LEGO, Rituals and Pandora are among the shops opening their doors at Manchester Airport<\/a> this week after a new section of Terminal 2\u2019s departure lounge opened to the public.<\/p>\n Six new shops and eateries have opened in the redeveloped lounge as part of the airport\u2019s \u00a31.3billion transformation plan of Terminal 2.<\/p>\n As well as browsing the new shops, passengers can also grab a bite to eat or drink before they catch their flight at Starbucks, baguette specialists Upper Crust, and juice bar Joe & The Juice.<\/p>\n The new opening coincides with the school holidays with the airport expecting more than five million passengers to fly to and from the travel hub this summer.<\/a><\/p>\n Never miss a story with the MEN’s daily Catch Up newsletter – get it in your inbox by signing up here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s the latest milestone in the 10-year plan which has seen Terminal 2 more than double in size.<\/p>\n An extension to the terminal opened in 2021 and the airport is now in the final stages of overhauling the original Terminal 2 building to bring it up to the same standard as the extension, mirroring the modern look and feel.<\/p>\n More than 70 per cent of the airport\u2019s passengers will use the new facilities and Terminal 1 is set to close when the project is completed later this year.<\/p>\n Further shops and restaurants are expected to open in the coming months \u2013 including Chanel, Grindsmith by WH Smith, a Fever Tree cocktail and champagne bar, and the Great Northern Market \u2013 a food court with a selection of street food options.<\/p>\n Chris Woodroofe, Managing Director at Manchester Airport, said: \u201cIt\u2019s wonderful to see more of our new-look Terminal 2 opening to the public, further enhancing the world class passenger experience that this terminal offers. We have a busy few months ahead of us as we finish this transformative 10-year project.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re proud to connect the people of the North with the world, and these new facilities will allow them to travel in the style befitting a major international hub, while also creating a striking first impression for visitors to our region.<\/p>\n \u201cManchester and the North are woven through the fabric of this terminal building, from the worker bee and honeycomb motif in the terminal\u2019s design, to the many Northern brands operating shops and restaurants in our departure lounge.
