Newcastle United have been urged to copy Liverpool\u2019s approach in the transfer market after agreeing a new deal.<\/strong><\/p>\n The Reds recently hijacked Newcastle\u2019s move to sign Hugo Ekitike<\/a>, luring the Frenchman to Anfield for a fee of around \u00a379million.<\/p>\n Ekitike wasn\u2019t the first transfer target that the Magpies have missed out on this summer, with Joao Pedro<\/a>, Bryan Mbeumo, and James Trafford all going elsewhere.<\/p>\n Amid the disappointment, Newcastle<\/a> have made a change to their transfer department, bringing in Atlanta\u2019s Sudarshan Gopaladesikan as their new technical director.<\/p>\n Everton\u2019s<\/a> former chief Keith Wyness \u2013 who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs \u2013 believes Gopaladesikan needs to replicate Liverpool\u2019s recipe for success.<\/p>\n Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider<\/strong>\u2019s Inside Track podcast<\/a>, Wyness insisted that it is incredibly important that Newcastle\u2019s new technical director presents his research on transfers in a clear format.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n Gopaladesikan is currently working without a sporting director or CEO above him, as the Magpies look to fill the two vacant positions.<\/p>\n Wyness added that Liverpool<\/a> have done so well in terms of transfer research in recent years, which has contributed to their success.<\/p>\n He told Football Insider<\/strong>\u2018s Inside Track podcast: \u201cIn that sort of position, you\u2019ve got to learn very quickly what, or at least how you present your findings to the managers above you, whether it be Eddie Howe on the football side or whether it be PIF on the financial side.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019ve got to learn quickly what their hot spots are, and how they like to see things, and what you need to do to get things across the line. So that\u2019s the learning curve Gopaladesikan has to go through. It\u2019s very different. <\/p>\n \u201cEach chief executive, each chairman, each football manager all have different views on data and the danger is different interpretations of data and that\u2019s where you\u2019ve got to have a united approach. <\/p>\n \u201cThe technical director has to be skilled, not only at doing the research but in how he presents that research and what he actually sees in the numbers.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s a big skill and that\u2019s where I think Liverpool have done well, but it\u2019s the danger as much as the opportunity in this whole data-driven AI approach that we\u2019re seeing coming into football.
