Using her entrepreneurial spirit, she also suggested a bake sale after school to raise additional funds.

Supported by her friends and her seven-year-old brother Henry, Eve made over 120 cakes and welcomed baked and bought donations from family and friends to make sure there was plenty of cake for everyone.

Eve Millson and friends at the bake sale to raise money for Parkinson’s UK

Eve’s grandad, Dr David Millson, passed away as a result of the disease in May 2024. To support her family and keep her grandad’s memory alive, Eve asked her teachers whether she could do something special in his honour.

Eve said: “I’m very grateful to the Bramhope teachers, especially Mrs Laws who supported me and helped the event take place. The teachers said I could do a presentation in the Key Stage 2 assembly to talk about Parkinson’s too – my dad came in to help me and it was really nice to do this together.”

Eve’s parents, Amy and James Millson, added: “We’re so proud of Eve – she came up with the idea all by herself, busily prepared posters, researched Parkinson’s and created a presentation for the assembly – as well as baking and icing over 100 cakes. Her brother Henry loved helping her at the bake sale and her youngest brother Charlie slept in his pushchair throughout the entire event! This has meant such a lot to our family and it’s been really meaningful to be able to remember Eve’s grandad in such a special way.”

The bake sale at Bramhope Primary School to raise money for Parkinson’s UK

Parkinson’s disease is a condition in which parts of the brain become progressively damaged over many years.
