Director Guillermo del Toro has spent the last year and a half working on one of his dream projects, an adaptation of Mary Shelley\u2019s classic tale\u00a0Frankenstein<\/a>\u00a0that is set up at the Netflix streaming service.\u00a0The movie is set to be released in\u00a0November<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 and while\u00a0we wait to hear a specific release date, Vanity Fair<\/a> has unveiled a batch of images from the film! You can check them out at the bottom of this article.<\/p>\n

Del Toro\u2019s\u00a0Frankenstein, which is a long-awaited passion project for the filmmaker,\u00a0might have the following logline:\u00a0Set in Eastern Europe in the 19th Century, the story of Dr. Pretorius, who needs to track down Frankenstein\u2019s monster- who is believed to have died in a fire forty years before\u2013in order to continue the experiments of Dr. Frankenstein. Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight) stars alongside Mia Goth (Pearl), Jacob Elordi (Saltburn), Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds), and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), with Ralph Ineson (The Witch) showing up for a pivotal cameo. At one point, Andrew Garfield was in the cast, but he had to drop out and was replaced by Elordi\u2026 and\u00a0the role Garfield passed over to Elordi was the Monster.<\/p>\n

Del Toro has been talking about making a new version of\u00a0Frankenstein\u00a0for more than a decade. Years ago, he had the project set up at Universal, with Doug Jones (The Shape of Water) on board to play Frankenstein\u2019s Monster. The movie got far enough into pre-production that Jones\u00a0even saw a\u00a0<\/a>Monster bust\u00a0inspired by Bernie Wrightson\u2019s artwork in an illustrated adaptation of Shelley\u2019s novel, which Wrightson spent seven years working on. But then the project fell apart. Now it\u2019s finally happening at the Netflix streaming service, which previously teamed with del Toro on\u00a0Pinocchio\u00a0and the anthology series\u00a0Guillermo del Toro\u2019s Cabinet of Curiosities.<\/p>\n

While del Toro has said that this is \u201can incredibly emotional movie\u201d that he doesn\u2019t consider to be a horror film, the Motion Picture Association ratings board has revealed that this Frankenstein does has some bloody violence in it. In fact, they\u2019ve given the film an R rating for bloody violence and grisly images.<\/p>\n
