{"id":299106,"date":"2025-07-28T18:12:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-28T18:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/299106\/"},"modified":"2025-07-28T18:12:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T18:12:11","slug":"britain-revolted-by-gaza-hunger-starmer-tells-trump-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/299106\/","title":{"rendered":"Britain \u2018revolted\u2019 by Gaza hunger, Starmer tells Trump \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking as Starmer and his wife Victoria arrived for talks, Trump was pressed by reporters on whether he agreed with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/liveblog_entry\/netanyahu-israel-allowed-in-aid-throughout-war-otherwise-there-would-be-no-gazans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">assessment that there<\/a> is \u201cno starvation\u201d in Gaza, amid an outcry from aid organizations and the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. president rejected Netanyahu\u2019s characterization, saying: \u201cBased on television, I would say not particularly, because those children look very hungry \u2014 but we\u2019re giving a lot of money and a lot of food, and other nations are now stepping up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Starmer, who faces intense domestic pressure over Gaza, including from MPs in his own party, then chimed in to say: \u201cIt\u2019s a humanitarian crisis. It\u2019s an absolute catastrophe. Nobody wants to see that. And I think people in Britain are revolted at what they\u2019re seeing on their screens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump vows food centers<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after their meeting, Trump said Israel bears \u201ca lot of responsibility\u201d for the hunger facing the people of Gaza \u2014 but hinted at a new joint effort to try and improve the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to set up four centers \u2026 where the people can walk in \u2014 and no boundaries,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re not going to have fences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added of the current situation: \u201cThey see the food. It\u2019s all there, but nobody\u2019s at it because they have fences set up that nobody can even get.
