A man has been charged with a number of offences following a crash in Co Down<\/a> that killed a 16-year-old.<\/p>\n Jaidyn Rice, from the Bangor<\/a> area, sadly died at the scene of a crash<\/a> in the West Circular Road area of the city on Tuesday, July 8. The 16-year-old was a pedestrian and died after a collision involving a car at around 10.55pm.<\/p>\n Police have confirmed a 30-year-old man has been charged with “causing death by dangerous driving and other offences.”<\/p>\n READ MORE: Plan for memorial bench in memory of “exceptional” Bangor teen Jaidyn Rice<\/a>READ MORE: Jaidyn Rice: Mother pays emotional tribute at funeral for daughter killed in road collision<\/a><\/p>\n A PSNI<\/a> spokesperson added: “He is due to appear at Newtownards Magistrates Court on Tuesday 29th July. As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.”<\/p>\n There was an outpouring of grief<\/a> in Bangor following Jaidyn’s death, with the teenager described as a young leader in her community who inspired others with her compassion.<\/p>\n Over \u00a35,000 has been raised by the local community to create a memorial bench for Jaidyn. Lindsay Andrews, who set up the campaign, said on the JustGiving Page<\/a>: “Jaidyn was a large part of the Bangor community and my family thought it would be lovely to raise funds to support the family and to purchase a memorial bench for the family and community.<\/p>\n “Jayden was a huge part of our community. She was a youth worker for the DICE Project and a member of the army cadets. She will be sorely missed. Sleep tight little Angel.
