Leeds United<\/a> full-back Isaac Schmidt<\/a> has agreed personal terms to join Werder Bremen, but Daniel Farke is only going to sanction a move when a replacement has been sourced.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Whites have addressed the defence and midfield very well this summer with a goalkeeper, centre-backs and central midfielders all arriving.<\/p>\n

At full-back, depth is still something of a concern behind Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson, with Sam Byram and Isaac Schmidt the only two backups.<\/p>\n

Schmidt\u2019s future was inevitably coming into question this summer after previously commenting on his lack of playing time, claimed to be exploring options by his agent<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, Sky Sports journalist Patrick Berger<\/a> has now revealed that the wing-back has agreed personal terms over a move to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.<\/p>\n

The German club are working on an initial loan deal with Leeds, while it\u2019s unclear if they would be looking to add a buy option in the transfer too.<\/p>\n

Daniel Farke won\u2019t sanction Isaac Schmidt exit before Leeds United find a replacement<\/p>\n

A caveat to Werder\u2019s progression towards signing the Swiss international is that Farke is concerned over Leeds\u2019 current full-back cover.<\/p>\n

Before Schmidt can make his move to Germany, Berger reveals that the Whites will first require a replacement at Elland Road.<\/p>\n

No names are mentioned, but Schmidt\u2019s pending exit leaves Byram as the only backup on both sides of the back four, after also allowing Max W\u00f6ber a loan to Werder Bremen too.<\/p>\n

Isaac Schmidt deserves better opportunities than he\u2019s getting at Leeds United<\/p>\n

Schmidt is more than good enough to be an option at Leeds, but Farke was unwilling to give him opportunities last season, even when Firpo or Bogle weren\u2019t available in the winter.<\/p>\n

The quality is so obviously there, otherwise he wouldn\u2019t have been brought in by the club\u2019s recruitment team for \u00a34.5million<\/a>, nor would he have been called into the Switzerland national team.<\/p>\n

On that point, in a World Cup year, it\u2019s imperative that he gets the playing time he craves in order to give him the best chance of playing in the States next summer.<\/p>\n

Leeds (or Farke) could look back at his use of Schmidt with plenty of regret if he develops well, but for now, the only focus is replacing him well.<\/p>\n
