In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/GooglePixel\/comments\/1ma6hpa\/im_the_3rd_one_posting_this_for_this_month_pixel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a post on Reddit<\/a>, a Pixel 6A user says they awoke to a \u201chorrible smell and a loud noise,\u201d which is when they discovered their device on fire while charging atop the nightstand next to them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The Redditor says the device was plugged into a 45W charger for the Steam Deck when it caught fire, melting the phone\u2019s screen and case. \u201cThe phone was sitting less than 40 cms away from my head on my nightstand,\u201d u\/footymanageraddict says in the post. \u201cSheets caught on fire. My ac (a floor unit) had damages on its surface from the fire. My throat hurt the whole day from the fumes i inhaled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Google didn\u2019t immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/google-pixel-6a-battery-fire-3558501\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">several reports<\/a> of Pixel 6A fires emerged earlier this year, Google <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/685738\/google-pixel-6a-battery-overheating-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">released a mandatory software update<\/a> designed to reduce battery capacity and charging performance after 400 charge cycles. Google also began offering a free battery replacement for eligible devices.
