Wigan Warriors chairman Professor Chris Brookes has shown his support for Catalans Dragons, following questions over the potential future in Super League.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a debate that\u2019s been happening since the Dragons\u2019 introduction to the league back in 2006.<\/p>\n

To celebrate their 20th anniversary next season, the Dragons will move their game against Wigan to Paris<\/a>, and both sides have been vital in trying to push the game to new audiences.<\/p>\n

It was only in 2019 that the two teams faced off at Barcelona\u2019s Camp Nou in front of a record 31,555 crowd.<\/p>\n

Whilst Stade Jean-Bouin only has a capacity of just under 20,000, it also marks thirty years since the inaugural season of Super League, when Paris Saint-Germain were one of the founding teams.<\/p>\n

Whilst their fate was less than successful with two years in the top flight, the Dragons have arguably been more successful heading into their 20th season in Super League in 2026.<\/p>\n

Wigan Warriors chairman throws support behind Catalans Dragons\u2019 Super League status<\/p>\n

It isn\u2019t the first time that the Warriors have taken a game on the road, with previous games in Wollongong in 2018 and Las Vegas earlier this season.<\/p>\n

Wigan\u2019s chairman, Professor Brookes, said that he believes that the Dragons\u2019 inclusion in Super League is a must going forward<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cOur connection with the Catalans team shows how much we support Catalans being within Super League.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe see this team as absolutely critical to the future of our sport, and we\u2019re 100 per cent behind the French team and what they bring, the brand of rugby league they play. Our fans love going there.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe see what this team does is absolutely pivotal to the future of the game and an essential part of it looking forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having the backing of one of Super League\u2019s stalwart sides can only play in Catalans\u2019 favour, but will require more than one club\u2019s support to secure their future.<\/p>\n
