The indie rock band, featuring Matthew Murphy, Tord \u00d8verland Knudsen and Dan Haggis, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/liverpool-bands\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"formed in Liverpool in 2003 and have sold over one million albumsLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">formed in Liverpool in 2003 and have sold over one million albums<\/a> worldwide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The band \u2013 along with fellow LIPA grad and their manager, Simon Bobbett \u2013 will be among nine leading figures from the creative arts to be made LIPA Companions, including Oscar-winning filmmaker Sir Sam Mendes, and acclaimed actors Adrian Lester and James Nesbitt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A LIPA Companionship is awarded for outstanding achievement and contribution to student learning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The full list of Companions for 2025:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Simon Bobbett, manager of The Wombats (LIPA graduate)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Adrian Lester, film, TV and stage actor (Hustle, The Day After Tomorrow)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Gay Linvill, Hollywood director and producer (The Big Bang Theory, Days of Our Lives)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Sita McIntosh, CEO of Go Live Theatre and arts accessibility campaigner<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Sir Sam Mendes, director, producer and writer (American Beauty, Skyfall)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">James Nesbitt, film, TV and stage actor (Cold Feet, The Hobbit)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Matthew Murphy, Tord \u00d8verland Knudsen, and Dan Haggis, The Wombats (five UK top five albums, LIPA graduates)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">They will receive their Companionships from LIPA\u2019s Founding Patron, Sir Paul McCartney, in a ceremony that celebrates the achievements of around 420 graduating students from over 30 countries, including Columbia, Hong Kong and India.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">LIPA\u2019s Principal and CEO Professor Sean McNamara said: \u201cToday is a celebration of creativity, collaboration and possibility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cAs artists, innovators, and leaders who will inspire others through their work, the graduating class of 2025 possesses the skills, the vision and the confidence to influence culture and the world around them.
