The school holidays have arrived and your bank balance probably already knows about it.<\/p>\n
With little ones needing entertaining, the long summer break can end up costing families a small fortune and with many people already struggling to meet ends meet, it can all feel a bit too daunting.<\/p>\n
If you’re wanting to make every penny count then this budget-friendly day out could be for you.<\/p>\n
There’s a way of getting a full day out for a parent or grandparent and two children for \u00a320 which includes food, cinema tickets and a trip to the theatre.<\/p>\n
For those that aren’t aware, Beefeater has a great deal running throughout the year where one adult can pay for a full English breakfast for \u00a310.99 and two children under 16 get to eat for free.<\/p>\n

The ‘unlimited’ breakfast includes drinks too and if anyone doesn’t fancy a cooked meal, there\u2019s a wide array of continental breakfast options available too with cereal, fruit or freshly-baked pastries and American style buttermilk pancakes.<\/p>\n
And if you head to the Salford Quays<\/a> branch early enough (breakfast finishes at 10.30am midweek) then you’ll be in time for the next activity of the day – a cinema trip to Vue at Quayside.<\/p>\n Mighty Mornings screenings cost \u00a32.49 a ticket and there’s no booking fee to book online. Showings are usually 10am and this summer will include the likes of A Minecraft Movie, How To Train Your Dragon and Elio.<\/p>\n But that’s not all. If you plan ahead you can time your day out with a trip to the new Quentin Blake and Me event running at Lowry.<\/p>\n The major new free family exhibition<\/a> celebrates the work of one of Britain\u2019s most popular writers and illustrators, who has brought to life some of the most beloved characters in children\u2019s fiction, from The BFG and The Twits to Mr Stink.<\/p>\n Known for his distinctive and playful style, he has written or illustrated over 500 books, working with famous authors like Roald Dahl, David Walliams, and Michael Morpurgo.<\/p>\n The exhibition features a wide range of Blake\u2019s instantly recognisable work as well as fun interactives, games to play, and opportunities for visitors to write and draw their own stories, all whilst being immersed in Blake\u2019s magical world.<\/p>\n It is free to enter, but there is a timed entry system, with bookings available on Lowry’s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n With breakfast and the cinema trip coming to around \u00a318.50, you’d be left with just about enough for a packet of sweets, although you’ll probably have to give the pick ‘n’ mix a miss.<\/p>\n If you end up being too late for breakfast then you could always head to the Beefeater later in the day, when the offer is one free kids meal per adult meal if you sign up to the newsletter.<\/p>\n And if you don’t fancy either breakfast or the cinema, then you could make the most of the Lowry’s kids eat for \u00a31 deal, available from 12pm to 4pm at Lowry Bar and Kitchen for under 12s, or head to Quayside’s Kargo MKT where kids age 10 and under eat free between 10am and 12pm between now and August 29, excluding the bank holiday on August 25.<\/p>\n Either way I think you’ll find it’s not a bad day out on a budget.
