Lord Ivar Mountbatten<\/a>, a cousin to King Charles<\/a> and recent reality television star, is celebrating some happy news.\n<\/p>\n The businessman and aristocrat, 62, took to Instagram on July 26 to celebrate the engagement of his eldest daughter, Ella.\n<\/p>\n “I couldn\u2019t be happier to announce the engagement of my eldest and most precious daughter Ella\u00a0@ellamountbatten\u00a0to her fabulous boyfriend Fergus\u00a0@wright.fergus,” he captioned a photo of the smiling couple. “Ferg is not one to be rushed, so I am incredibly pleased that he has finally put us all out of our misery!”\n<\/p>\n Most jokes aside, Ivar continued, “I know he will look after my daughter to his dying day – they couldn\u2019t be better suited. Enjoy this special time in your life. Much love to you both. X\u00a0#happycouple\u00a0#finally\u00a0#1down2togo.”\n<\/p>\n Ella, 29, works as a brand partnership manager with the Hong Kong-based Peninsula Hotels, while her new fianc\u00e9, Fergus Wright, works as an insurer relationship executive, according to their LinkedIn pages.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Ivar is the younger son of David Mountbatten, 3rd Marquess of Milford Haven. Queen Victoria<\/a> was his great-great-great-grandmother, and he is the second cousin of King Charles on their fathers’ sides.\n<\/p>\n He was married to Penelope Thompson, now Lady Penny Mountbatten, from 1994 to 2011, and they share three daughters: Ella, Alexandra, 27, and Louise, 22.\n<\/p>\n The couple divorced amicably in November 2011, and in September 2016, Ivar revealed that he was in a relationship with James Coyle, an airline cabin services director. They married in September 2018, making Ivar the first member of a British monarch’s extended family to be in an open same-sex relationship and have a same-sex wedding<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Though his relationship with the King is perhaps the most notable, Ivar seems to share the closest bond with another of his royal cousins.
