Hoggard has been there and done that 20 years ago as Michael Vaughan\u2019s heroes recaptured the urn in a seismic summer when <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/sport\/cricket\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">cricket<\/a> was the only show in town.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Now England are in the same boat after a tetchy, thrilling win at Lord\u2019s and a sour finish to the stalemate at Old Trafford as <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/ben-stokes\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Ben Stokes<\/a> fed two Indian batters joke bowling to bring up their centuries when they refused to shake hands on the draw earlier. And Hoggard was thrilled the class of 2005 was namechecked by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/joe-root\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Root<\/a> as one of his inspirations growing up after Yorkshire\u2019s batting royalty unfurled his 38th Test century at the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Hoggy, who took 248 wickets in 67 Tests, said: \u201cListening to Joe being interviewed, after he had just become the second-greatest run scorer of all time in Test cricket, saying he had been inspired by the Ashes winners of 2005 was music to my ears. I\u2019m not sure he\u2019d ever seen me hit an extra cover drive before.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cAs Ashley Giles, who hit the winning runs, and I walked off, he said, \u2018Enjoy the moment, we\u2019re kings for the night.\u2019 He was right &#8211; our pace attack was called the Fab Four but it was really a fab five because Gilo was the forgotten man of that bowling unit. He was immense.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cBut when we got to The Oval for the final Test, the nerves took over again. The night before I was out for dinner with my wife and I was so uptight I called for the bill and walked out. My head was all over the place, I\u2019m afraid I was a bit of a t**t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">England\u2019s pace attack was detained in the field 143 overs as they chased victory in vain at Old Trafford, and Hoggard warned: \u201cIt\u2019s going to be survival of the fittest and it reminds me of 2005.
