Viktor Gyokeres has joined Arsenal, and fans can\u2019t wait to see him in action.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Swede is the first striker Mikel Arteta<\/a> has signed since Gabriel Jesus<\/a> back in 2022. Gyokeres is much more of a goalscorer than the Brazilian, and that is the reason why the excitement is at an all-time high.<\/p>\n

The new Gunners star scored 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting, which is an outrageous return for any striker.<\/p>\n

Before he went to Portugal, he spent time in England, playing for Brighton and Hove Albion, Swansea and Coventry City.<\/p>\n

A myth about the striker from that time has now been busted by Marco Silva, the manager of Arsenal\u2019s Premier League<\/a> rivals Fulham.<\/p>\n

Viktor Gyokeres<\/a> deserves more praise than he gets. <\/p>\n

The 27-year-old\u2019s achievements at Sporting CP are being downplayed by many because most of his goals came against teams in the Portuguese top flight.<\/p>\n

Some rival fans argue that Gyokeres is not a good player because:<\/p>\n

  1. Arsenal<\/a> were the only big club that wanted him this summer<\/li>\n
  2. No other English club tried to sign him when he was at Coventry City<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The first one is not accurate at all, as Manchester United were interested in signing Gyokeres<\/a> too this summer. Silva has now set the record straight to debunk the second claim.<\/p>\n

    Speaking in an interview on Canal 11<\/a>, the Fulham manager said: \u201cThe story that English clubs hadn\u2019t noticed Gyokeres (before he went to Sporting) is complete nonsense.<\/p>\n

    \u201cAll mid-table clubs had noticed him, and there were offers. I even spoke with Gyokeres\u2019 agent.\u201d<\/p>\n

    It is a bit funny that many people are writing Gyokeres off before he has even kicked a ball in Arsenal\u2019s<\/a> colours.<\/p>\n

    Yes, the quality of the Portuguese league is incomparable to the Premier League, but a return of 97 goals in 102 games is ridiculous, irrespective of where you are playing in Europe.<\/p>\n

    To add to that, Gyokeres has performed brilliantly in the Champions League<\/a> and also in international games for Sweden. <\/p>\n

    In fact, the last time Gyokeres played with Alexander Isak for Sweden<\/a>, the Arsenal man scored four goals, while the Newcastle star failed to find the net and even missed a penalty.<\/p>\n

    We are convinced that Gyokeres is a very good signing for Arsenal, and everyone who has written him off will regret it in the next few months.<\/p>\n
