{"id":301023,"date":"2025-07-29T11:05:17","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T11:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/301023\/"},"modified":"2025-07-29T11:05:17","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T11:05:17","slug":"ozzy-osbourne-funeral-cortege-to-travel-through-birmingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/301023\/","title":{"rendered":"Ozzy Osbourne funeral cort\u00e8ge to travel through Birmingham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"publish_date\">29 July 2025, 11:18 | Updated: 29 July 2025, 11:55<\/p>\n<p>        <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Ozzy Osbourne at his farewell show on 5th July 2025\" class=\"content-image\" data-image-catalogue-id=\"741770\" width=\"660\" height=\"370\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/741770\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>    Ozzy Osbourne at his farewell show on 5th July 2025.<\/p>\n<p>        Picture:<br \/>\nRoss Halfin<\/p>\n<p>    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/dialog\/share?href=www.radiox.co.uk%2Fnews%2Fmusic%2Fozzy-osbourne-funeral-procession-birmingham-date-time%2F&amp;app_id=273057869459557\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"gusto.tracking.social(&#039;facebook&#039;, &#039;share&#039;)\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n        <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Facebook share\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1745225889_868_facebook-share.png\"\/><br \/>\n    <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"standfirst\">Fans will be able to pay their final respects to the Black Sabbath legend as his body is brought back to his home city on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiox.co.uk\/news\/music\/ozzy-osbourne-dies-age-76-weeks-after-farewell-black-sabbath-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Ozzy Osbourne&#8217;s<\/strong> <\/a>body is to make a final trip to his hometown this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiox.co.uk\/features\/black-sabbath-facts-trivia-origin-name\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Black Sabbath<\/strong><\/a> legend&#8217;s hearse will will make its way through\u00a0Birmingham, travelling alongside his family to Broad Street from\u00a01pm, confirms the city&#8217;s council.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\">The cortege, accompanied by musicians Bostin Brass, will stop at the Black Sabbath bridge and bench, where thousands of fans have been gathering since the heavy metal icon died last week on Tuesday 22nd July, aged 76, to leave flowers and tributes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiox.co.uk\/news\/music\/ozzy-osbourne-black-sabbath-back-to-beginning-gig-setlist-watch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Read more: Ozzy Osbourne bids farewell to the stage with Black Sabbath&#8217;s all-star Back To The Beginning show<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\"><strong>Birmingham\u00a0Lord Mayor\u00a0Zafar Iqbal\u00a0<\/strong>said the city where Osbourne grew up will give him the &#8220;farewell he deserves&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\">&#8220;Ozzy was more than a music legend &#8211; he was a son of\u00a0Birmingham,&#8221; a statement read.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\">&#8220;Having recently been awarded the Freedom of the City and following his celebrated appearance at the Back to the Beginning concert at\u00a0Villa Park\u00a0earlier this month, it was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\">&#8220;We know how much this moment will mean to his fans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\">&#8220;We&#8217;re proud to host it here with his loving family in the place where it all began, and we are grateful that they have generously offered to pay to enable this to happen and support the city is giving him the farewell he deserves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\">The city council said it had worked &#8220;at pace&#8221; to co-ordinate a respectful and safe public event in co-ordination with the Osbourne family ahead of a private funeral.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\">Broad Street will be closed to traffic from\u00a07am\u00a0and buses and trams will be diverted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\">Ozzy&#8217;s family shared the news of his passing last week, with a statement which read: &#8220;It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\">&#8220;It\u2019s just such heartbreaking news that I can\u2019t really find the words, there won\u2019t ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-text\">He added: &#8220;My thoughts go out to Sharon and all the Osbourne family.
