A new coffee and sandwich shop has opened its doors in the former home of a city centre Chinese restaurant in Bristol. Fika is an independent family-run cafe <\/a>which is serving up ‘Fikaccias’, as well as baps, jacket potatoes, salad bowls, and a range of hot and cold drinks.<\/p>\n

The name Fika is inspired by the Swedish tradition of ‘slowing down, connecting with others, and enjoying good food and coffee – a philosophy owners say is at the very core of this new local hangout’. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Peyman and Pampi, FIKA promises “more than just a quick bite: it\u2019s about pausing, sharing, and savouring”.<\/p>\n

Peyman and Pampi, both passionate food lovers with deep roots in hospitality, are bringing what they describe as their unique spin to the city\u2019s food <\/a>scene, with a menu built around one signature item – focaccia-loaded sandwiches, made fresh to order every single day. They describe it as having “soft, olive oil-kissed focaccia packed with bold, vibrant flavours and premium fillings that celebrate both quality and creativity”.<\/p>\n

The team went onto say: “We also have a selection of jacket potato salad bowls and many other home-made fresh treats. We wanted to create a space where people could slow down, connect, and enjoy food that\u2019s made with care. FIKA is our dream brought to life, and we\u2019re so excited to share it with Bristol.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alongside their stacked sandwiches, Fika will also serve up a range of expertly brewed coffees and drinks in a ‘warm, welcoming space designed to make customers feel at home’.<\/p>\n

BristolLive reported back in April<\/a> that the new coffee shop was coming to Bristol, with signage already up at the time, and work going on to get the venue ready for opening. The building on Broad Quay was previously home to Dao Chao and before that, popular cocktail bar Aluna.<\/p>\n

The Dao Chao Chinese restaurant that served bottomless brunches and cocktails. The restaurant opened in January 2024, following the closure of the popular Aluna bar<\/a> on December 31, 2023.<\/p>\n

The Chinese restaurant closed its doors suddenly<\/a>, with the restaurant seemingly having been stripped of furniture, bar and fittings when BristolLive reported its closure in October.<\/p>\n

Aluna, the popular cocktail bar, had resided in this location for around eight years, having opened back in 2015. It was known and loved for its Pan Asian menu, bottomless brunches and decor worthy of many a selfie.<\/p>\n
