\n It has been proposed to build the centre and GP surgery as part of the Millfields development near Draycott.\n<\/p>\n
\n Details of the scheme have been revealed in a request for quotation document, also known as an RFQ, published by Cam Parish Council on Thursday, July 10.\n<\/p>\n
\n The project is being led by the parish council, in collaboration with Stroud District Council and the NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board.\n<\/p>\n
\n Officials believe that the surgery will serve between 12,000 to 15,000 patients.\n<\/p>\n
\n An NHS document from last year suggested the surgery could open by 2029 or 2030.\n<\/p>\n
\n The proposed village centre, also referred to as a health hub, could include a fitness studio, event rooms, a community caf\u00e9 and a youth hub.\n<\/p>\n
\n It could also feature enterprise units, a bike pump track, public spaces with seating, a soft play area and a 3G artificial pitch.\n<\/p>\n
\n Plans have also been outlined for a shared office space for Gloucestershire police and an NHS dental clinic.\n<\/p>\n
\n Other proposed features include dedicated drop-off and turning areas, traffic calming measures, and safe pedestrian and cycle routes.\n<\/p>\n
\n In December 2024, Stroud District Council approved plans to donate \u00a320,880 to support feasibility studies for the two projects.\n<\/p>\n
\n A document from the time stated the Cam and Uley Doctors\u2019 Practice was operating at 40 per cent above capacity.\n<\/p>\n
\n The parish council is now seeking consultants to submit quotations for undertaking a feasibility study about the scheme.\n<\/p>\n
\n The winning contract, valued at \u00a330,000 including VAT, is expected to start in September.\n<\/p>\n
\n The request for quotation document reads: \u201cThis is a unique and exciting opportunity to deliver a high-quality, community-focused destination that fosters local pride and belonging.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cOur ambition is to create a new village centre centred around services rather than traditional retail.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cHealthcare partners, in collaboration with Stroud District Council, Cam Parish Council and other key stakeholders, have already begun exploring the potential development of facilities in Cam through a feasibility study that investigated several sites to locate a new primary care facility.\n<\/p>\n

\n In a joint statement by Cam\u2019s district councillors Cllr Ian Hamilton, Cllr Terri Kinnison, Cllr Milly Hill and Cllr Chris Haynes have described the plans as \u2018exciting\u2019.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cCam is a brilliant place to live and work, it\u2019s surrounded by beautiful countryside and has a proud history and strong sense of community,\u201d they said.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cBecause of its geography and proximity to transport links, Cam has been asked to absorb an unusual amount of new housing, however this brings with it the opportunity to use CIL money for the benefit of the residents.\n<\/p>\n
