‘agrees five-year contract’ with Liverpool

Indeed, a switch to Anfield seemingly appeals to Isak, with Sky Sports in France, as quoted by The Sun, claiming that the striker has agreed personal terms with Liverpool over a five-year contract.

Isak is said to currently earn around £130,000 a week at Newcastle and his entourage have been pushing for the striker’s salary package to be increased to around £300,000 per week.

The Swede’s representatives were said to be disappointed when Newcastle’s former sporting director Paul Mitchell, who left the club at the end of June, decided against entering negotiations over an improved contract last summer.

However, Liverpool are said to be willing to meet Isak’s demands and the striker has given the green light to make the record move to Merseyside.

Liverpool have spent more than any other club in world football in this summer’s transfer window, with over £250m forked out on seven new signings, but they could generate additional funds to sign Isak with the sale of <a href="https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/people/luis-diaz/" title="More Luis Isak’s future is out of his control

Prior to Newcastle’s 3-2 pre-season friendly defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, Howe confirmed that<a “things are going on” behind the scenes with Isak, while also revealing that talks have not taken place over a contract extension, with the striker’s current deal running until June 2028.

Ahead of Newcastle’s friendly clash with a K-League XI in Seoul on Wednesday, Howe was inevitably quizzed about Isak’s future once again and has delivered a fresh update.

The Magpies boss told reporters on Tuesday: “He is still our player. He’s contracted to us. We, to a degree, control what is next for him.

“I would love to believe all possibilities are still available to us. My wish is that he stays, but that’s not in my full control.

“We have not received a formal offer for Alex, from any club.
