{"id":301965,"date":"2025-07-29T19:17:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T19:17:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/301965\/"},"modified":"2025-07-29T19:17:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T19:17:09","slug":"hall-of-fame-legend-who-fought-canelo-and-oscar-de-la-hoya-calls-out-manny-pacquiao-for-rematch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/301965\/","title":{"rendered":"Hall of Fame Legend Who Fought Canelo And Oscar De La Hoya Calls Out Manny Pacquiao For Rematch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A legend of boxing is targeting a rematch with former rival <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/topic\/manny-pacquiao\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manny Pacquiao<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/news\/teddy-atlas-on-pacquiao-vs-barios-score\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pacquiao made a sensational return to the ring earlier this month, fighting to a majority decision draw against reigning WBC world welterweight champion Mario Barrios<\/a> at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n<p>The 46-year-old Filipino great put on an impressive display against the younger champion, but ultimately fell short in his attempt at becoming the oldest world welterweight title holder of all time.<\/p>\n<p>After it was confirmed that Pacquiao would be continuing with his boxing career after drawing with Barrios, the 46-year-old could go on to rematch a former rival that he faced back in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Seconds Out, Hall of Fame inductee Shane Mosley, who faced the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather has expressed his desire to face Pacquiao for a second time.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe motivation is to prove people wrong. To let them know that I\u2019m the best. Sugar Shane Mosley is still here. I\u2019m not an old grandpa, I\u2019m still available and ready to fight. Manny Pacquiao is 46 years old, he just fought to a draw, people thought he won or whatever, he\u2019s proving that age is just a number. It\u2019s your mentality. I want to prove that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActually, I want to fight Manny Pacquiao next, and then the winner fights Floyd Mayweather. I want to show the world I\u2019m still here. You can\u2019t get rid of me. When I want to leave, I\u2019ll leave. I\u2019m not ready to leave. I love boxing \u2026 100% percent.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/boxing\/columns\/story?columnist=rafael_dan&amp;id=6512358\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pacquiao clashed with Mosley back in May of 2011 where he defeated the American via unanimous decision<\/a> to successfully defend his WBO welterweight title.<\/p>\n<p>Mosley actually made a return to the ring himself on July 25, suffering a points defeat to Matt Floyd at the conclusion of their 8-round exhibition bout at the Indigo O2 in London, England.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A legend of boxing is targeting a rematch with former rival Manny Pacquiao.
