George just turned 12 years old a week ago, on July 22, and royal biographer Robert Hardman told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hellomagazine.com\/royalty\/846864\/prince-william-kate-middleton-preparing-prince-george-future-destiny\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hello!<\/a> that the preteen royal \u201cis having a less stressful childhood than his dad did. They are committed to providing the children with a solid family life and trying to make their lives as normal as possible, given the unusual circumstances of their position.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_13-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> George posed solo for his 12th birthday portrait\u2014taken in the Norfolk countryside by Josh Shinner earlier this year\u2014but also had a video made alongside his younger siblings <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/princess-charlotte-turns-milestone-age-of-10-may-2-11723995\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Princess Charlotte<\/a> and <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/prince-louis-seventh-birthday-portrait-notable-change-appearance-11714645\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Louis<\/a>. \u201cThere\u2019s no jacket and tie\u2014it\u2019s authentic countryside fun,\u201d Hardman said. \u201cIt\u2019s nice to see George smiling so much.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Bedell Smith added, \u201cIt really shows the bond in the family. These are children who are enjoying a relatively normal life, spending a lot of time outdoors. Up in Norfolk, they can live a pretty normal life\u2014people don\u2019t bother them. Everyone is very protective of them.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Back in May, all three Wales kids attended a parade in honor of the 80th anniversary of VE Day, but only George attended a tea party at Buckingham Palace afterwards alongside his parents. \u201cGeorge was the star of the room,\u201d a source who was present that day said. \u201cHe was engrossed in conversations with many of the veterans, who were delighted to speak to him as well.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cIt was a safe, familiar place,\u201d the insider added. \u201cWilliam and Kate were clearly trying to give him a good experience.
