Leeds United have a heated rivalry with Chelsea.<\/strong><\/p>\n The tensions between Leeds and the London side<\/a> date back to fierce confrontations on and off the pitch in the 1960s and 1970s, when the sides were both fighting for domestic and European honours. <\/p>\n The 1970 FA Cup<\/a> final between the sides, which the Londoners won after a replay, is regarded as one of the most physical matches of all time. <\/p>\n The Chelsea Headhunters and Leeds Service Crew were two of the most notorious hooligan firms and had several encounters with each other in the 1970s and 1980s. <\/p>\n Leeds are facing a tough battle to survive in the Premier League<\/a> this season after securing promotion from the Championship last time out. <\/p>\n However, Chelsea superfan Rory Jennings would like them to stay in the division, despite the rivalry between the two clubs. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n Speaking on talkSPORT (28 July, 20:37pm), he said: \u201cThe Premier League is a far better place with Leeds United in it, I don\u2019t like Leeds, I am a Chelsea fan.<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody has to admit, even Chelsea fans of a particular era, who really do detest Leeds United and have them as our biggest rival.<\/p>\n \u201cEven that genre of Chelsea fan, my father for example, would tell you that Leeds United in the top-flight is their rightful place.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Jennings is spot on with Leeds claims<\/strong><\/p>\n Jennings\u2019 reluctant admission is spot on, the Elland Road<\/a> outfit belongs in the top-flight, it is as simple as that. <\/p>\n For starters, they are England\u2019s 15th most successful club, with a total of nine major honours, including three league titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup. <\/p>\n They also have one of the most passionate fan bases in the country, and their home ground is iconic and worthy of elite football on a regular basis, rather than just once every few years. <\/p>\n Their rivalries with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United need to be played out, rather than the Peacocks languishing in the Championship and watching as their rivals win trophies. <\/p>\n The hope will be that it is different this time and they can stay in the top flight for a long time, whether that can be achieved or not, remains to be seen.<\/p>\n![\"Leeds](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/leeds-united-fans-1024x576.png\")
