\n An index\u00a0compiled by L&G has revealed Britain’s\u00a0best places to retire.\n<\/p>\n
\n It was compiled by scoring areas against six \u201cpillars\u201d \u2013 housing, health, social and community, financial, nature, and amenities.\n<\/p>\n
\n This was based on an analysis of a wide range of existing data, including Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures, census data and housing and house price reports.\n<\/p>\n

Bangor Aberconwy among best places to retire in Wales<\/p>\n
\n As part of the research by\u00a0L&G<\/a>,\u00a0the best places to\u00a0retire\u00a0in Wales were revealed.\n<\/p>\n \n Taking the number one spot was\u00a0Monmouthshire.\n<\/p>\n \n Also making the list was\u00a0Bangor Aberconwy, in North Wales.\n<\/p>\n \n Lorna Shah, managing director at L&G, said: \u201cThis research gives us a more complete picture of what shapes a happy later life.\n<\/p>\n \n “It\u2019s not just about one factor \u2013 it\u2019s the combination of health, social connections, environment, and financial security that all play a part in retirement wellbeing.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cFinancial security in particular is an enabler for many of the other measures, giving people the freedom to choose where and how they want to live in later life.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n Bangor Aberconwy comprises various\u00a0places, such as\u00a0Conwy, Llandudno, Llandudno Junction and the city of Bangor.\n<\/p>\n Why\u00a0the city of Bangor is a great place\u00a0to visit<\/p>\n \n As well as being one of the country’s best places to retire, why wait until then, with plenty of good reasons to visit now.\n<\/p>\n \n Bangor is the oldest city in Wales and combines a “fascinating history with a modern vibe”, according to Visit Wales<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n \n It is set between the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountains and the “glistening waters of the Menai Strait”.\n<\/p>\n \n Some of the best things to do as highlighted by Visit Wales include visiting\u00a0Bangor Cathedral, taking a trip to the Penrhyn Castle and coastal footpath, and heading to the iconic\u00a0Bangor Garth Pier.\n<\/p>\n \n Recommended reading:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n \n There is also the\u00a0Storiel art gallery and museum,\u00a0Pontio performing arts centre and\u00a0Aber Falls Distillery.\n<\/p>\n \n If you are looking for a challenge,\u00a0the Snowdonia Slate Trail starts in Bangor.\n<\/p>\n \n It is six\u00a0miles long and takes about four\u00a0hours,\u00a0passing Penrhyn Castle, ancient churches, gurgling mill streams and the vast Penrhyn Quarry.\n<\/p>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n
