{"id":304082,"date":"2025-07-30T14:10:20","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T14:10:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/304082\/"},"modified":"2025-07-30T14:10:20","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T14:10:20","slug":"bristol-skaters-celebrate-tony-hawk-with-tricks-tunes-and-tribute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/304082\/","title":{"rendered":"Bristol skaters celebrate Tony Hawk with tricks, tunes and tribute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Skaters in Bristol were treated to a half-pipe dream as iconic video game Tony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater 3 + 4 rolled into town \u2013 leaving behind two new ramps and a legacy of support for the city\u2019s skate scene.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, July 12, Shredenhams skatepark in Bristol \u2013 a converted department store \u2013 hosted a celebratory event marking the game\u2019s launch, with some of the UK\u2019s top skaters performing signature moves inspired by the franchise.<\/p>\n<p>The event featured an invitational jam session with Alex DeCunha, Rianne Evans, Joshua Mayson and Adam Kay showcasing tricks from the classic games. The day also included a performance from Tony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater tribute band, The 900.<\/p>\n<p>To commemorate the launch, two ramps \u2013 a half-pipe and a bespoke design featuring steps and a railing \u2013 were permanently donated to the park. One of them had previously been skated by Tony Hawk himself.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/LC_290725skating_00.jpg\" class=\"kg-image\" alt=\"\" width=\"2000\" height=\"2000\"  \/>Shredenhams co-owners Tim Nokes and Andre Seidel<\/p>\n<p>Designed in collaboration with Shredenhams owners Andre Seidel and Tim Nokes, the custom ramp was described as a &#8220;love letter&#8221; to the UK skateboarding community, which has supported the franchise since 1999.<\/p>\n<p>Tim Nokes, co-owner of Shredenhams, said: \u201cThese permanent additions further cement the park\u2019s role as a safe space for the Bristol skate community to have fun and express themselves, helping us support both grassroots events and all-age skate sessions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The celebrations extended beyond ramps and tricks. Nick Harding, a Bristol artist known as @MobiusMaples, was invited to meet Tony Hawk in London. Nick, who creates sculptures from recycled skateboard decks, was left paralysed by Guillain-Barr\u00e9 syndrome in 2019 but has since turned to art as part of his recovery. At the meeting \u2013 held at London Zoo, one of the maps featured in the new game \u2013 he presented Tony with a custom-made sculpture and received Hawk\u2019s own used skateboard in return.<\/p>\n<p>Shredenhams is open to the public Wednesday to Saturday from 12pm to 10pm, and Sundays from 12pm to 8pm. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is now available across multiple platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5, Steam, Battle.net, Microsoft PC Store, and Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
