The search for the next James Bond<\/a> <\/strong>is underway, and one of the rumored choices to play 007<\/a> has already removed his name from consideration.<\/p>\n

What did Taron Egerton say about playing James Bond?<\/p>\n

Taron Egerton<\/strong><\/a> broke out as an actor in Kingsman: The Secret Service\u00a0and\u00a0Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Thanks to his charisma, looks, and physicality, Egerton thrived in the role of a cunning spy. The success of the Kingsman franchise<\/a> has led many pundits and prognosticators to nominate Egerton as the next James Bond.<\/p>\n

Egerton\u2019s traits \u2014 mid-30s, Welsh, and experience as a leading man \u2014 make him an ideal candidate for 007. The only one who disagrees with this casting is Egerton himself.<\/p>\n

While speaking with Collider<\/a>, Egerton was asked if he would play Bond. An honest Egerton said he\u2019s not interested in the iconic espionage character.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo. And I don\u2019t think I\u2019m a good choice for it. I think I\u2019m too messy for that,\u201d Egerton said. \u201cI think I\u2019m not \u2014 I really love James Bond and particularly Daniel Craig\u2019s tenure. But I think I wouldn\u2019t be good at it, and I think there\u2019s so many cool, younger actors who would be great for it. I think it would be wasted on me, probably.\u201d<\/p>\n

Egerton, who is currently one of the stars of the Apple TV+ crime drama Smoke, joked that nobody has asked him to play Bond. He also mentioned how playing 007 would \u201cconsume\u201d his life, something he\u2019s not willing to do right now. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s possibly not quite the thing that would make me happiest,\u201d Egerton said about playing Bond. \u201cI do think it\u2019s a big old undertaking. It kind of consumes your life, a role like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amazon MGM Studios is now in full creative control of the Bond franchise. Last month, the studio announced Denis Villeneuve<\/a> will direct the next James Bond film. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are attached to produce.
