That\u2019s why we spoke with a Pilates guru who shares six crucial <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eatthis.com\/bodyweight-exercises-women-over-50-daily\/\">strength, balance, and flexibility<\/a> tests every person over 45 should be able to successfully conquer.<\/p>\n<p><b>6 Strength Tests Every Person Over 45 Should Conquer<\/b><br \/>\n\tSquat Test<\/p>\n<p><img xmlns=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload alignnone size-medium wp-image-789776\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"&quot;0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/woman-doing-squats_7a65f0.jpeg\" alt=\"happy senior woman doing squats exercise on yoga mat in bright apartment living room\" width=\"640\" height=\"469\"  \/>Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA common and simple test to assess lower-body strength is the squat test, which evaluates both muscular strength and endurance in the legs, particularly the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes,\u201d says Portia. \u201cNo props or equipment necessary to perform.\u201d<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Stand tall, feet shoulder-width apart and toes pointed slightly out.<\/li>\n<li>Keep your back straight, chest tall, and arms extended ahead of you.<\/li>\n<li>Bend your knees to lower into a squat until your thighs are parallel to the floor or lower.<\/li>\n<li>Press through your heels to return to the start position.<\/li>\n<li>Perform as many full squats as possible while maintaining good form until fatigue. Core strength is key for injury prevention and overall fitness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plank also tests your overall stability as it engages the stabilizers in your shoulders, back, and legs,\u201d Portia adds.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Assume a forearm plank with your forearms on the floor\u2014elbows under your shoulders\u2014and body straight from head to heels.<\/li>\n<li>Engage your legs, glutes, and core.<\/li>\n<li>Hold for 30 seconds.
