A couple who didn\u2019t come from \u201cfancy beginnings\u201d have been named the best in the UK for their work. Reza and Rosie Dilmah are the brains behind Dr Rez, a renowned dental practice right in the heart of Liverpool\u2019s business district.<\/a><\/p>\n

Today, the Dale Street venue provides general advanced restorative, and cosmetic dentistry to hundreds of customers throughout the UK, with a host of five-star reviews and awards as a testament to their work. However, it hasn\u2019t always been this way.<\/p>\n

The family-run company began a decade ago on Rodney Street when Rez, 44, and Rosie, 36, would meet after working their 9-5 jobs to pursue their true passions.<\/p>\n

Mum-of-one Rosie, from Childwall<\/a>, told the ECHO<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s hard for us to let our journey even sink in. This year, it\u2019s been 10 years for us. The first five years, we were renting a practice, and we both had day jobs. We would meet evenings, after our shifts, and see patients then to make it work.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really didn\u2019t have fancy beginnings. It\u2019s quite literally something we have built from the ground up. We opened an Instagram profile, and that\u2019s how we got our first patients.\u201d<\/p>\n

After saving enough money, the two left their previous roles and launched their own venue on Dale Street. While Rez, from East London, handles all clinical matters, Rosie is in charge of managing patient experience. Together, the husband and wife oversee a team of 40 inside the city\u2019s Temple Building.<\/p>\n

Rez, a University of Liverpool<\/a> graduate, said other people within the industry called his set-up “crazy\u201d and questioned the amount of money he was investing. However, he now believes it has proved everyone wrong.<\/p>\n

The dad said: \u201cI worked a few jobs in different practices with the NHS, care-trust, mixed, and private. I wanted to improve the experience because the way the profession and industry portray dentistry, it is felt by most patients that it could be better.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to push the boat out and did it in a different way. I didn\u2019t want to stick with the status quo; I wanted to break that mould. Sometimes you doubt yourself and think maybe I shouldn\u2019t do this. But we stuck to our principles, and it seems now to be all worthwhile. To have those same people now say we have done an amazing job is definitely a standout for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple\u2019s hard work hasn\u2019t gone unnoticed. Since opening, they have received several awards, including Dental Practice of the Year UK at the Dentistry Awards.<\/p>\n

Rosie, a former finance worker, added: \u201cWe were absolutely blown away. To be recognised by our peers is so validating. They are really prestigious awards, so to be considered at the same standards as others who have been running for 50 and 60 years is a massive honour. We\u2019re so proud of everything we have put into the practice; it has 100% paid off.<\/p>\n

\u201cQuite often, such ceremonies are dominated by London practices, so to be putting Liverpool on the map as leaders in our field is such an incredible achievement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moving forward, the couple recently signed a lease for the floor above the current practice, which will allow them to double in size and add four additional surgeries to the existing three.<\/p>\n

In addition, they are in the midst of adding an education element to the business, with plans to create a teaching hub on the new floor.
