{"id":305787,"date":"2025-07-31T05:21:23","date_gmt":"2025-07-31T05:21:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/305787\/"},"modified":"2025-07-31T05:21:23","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T05:21:23","slug":"schoolboy-who-stabbed-fellow-pupil-to-death-suffered-abuse-at-home-trial-told-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/305787\/","title":{"rendered":"Schoolboy who stabbed fellow pupil to death suffered abuse at home, trial told"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 15-year-old is on trial accused of murdering Harvey Willgoose, also 15, who was killed at All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield on February 3.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Sheffield Crown Court heard two consultant forensic psychiatrists agreed that there was \u201cevidence of physical and emotional abuse and neglect in (the defendant\u2019s) home life, including lack of food and excessive physical chastisement\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1753890193_694_2.80849789.jpg\" alt=\"Harvey Willgoose death\" data-title=\"Harvey Willgoose death\" data-copyright-holder=\"PA Wire\" data-copyright-notice=\"PA Wire\/PA Images\" data-credit=\"Jacob King\" data-usage-terms=\"FILE PHOTO\"  \/>Police officers and floral tributes outside All Saints Catholic High School, on Granville Road in Sheffield (Jacob King\/PA)<\/p>\n<p>In a list of agreed facts read to the jury by junior defence counsel Richard Holland, the psychiatrists said his \u201coppositional behaviour and defiance\u201d was more obvious in school.<\/p>\n<p>They said that if he had had \u201cappropriate boundaries and discipline\u201d he would have better emotional regulation, and that incidents of aggression in the weeks and months before the alleged murder were \u201cexamples of his difficulties in controlling his emotions, including anger\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Holland said another report by two psychologists found the defendant\u2019s below average levels of verbal comprehension were because of his \u201cadverse early experiences rather than a neurodevelopmental disorder\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The court also heard a copy of Harvey\u2019s school timetable was found in the defendant\u2019s bedroom, and that only a member of staff or Harvey would have been able to print it off.<\/p>\n<p>A jury has heard that the defendant, who cannot be named, has admitted manslaughter but denies murder.<\/p>\n<p>He has also admitted possession of a knife on school premises.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/2.80849785.jpg\" alt=\"Harvey Willgoose death\" data-title=\"Harvey Willgoose death\" data-copyright-holder=\"PA Media\" data-copyright-notice=\"PA Media\" data-credit=\"South Yorkshire Police\" data-usage-terms=\"PICTURE DESK USE ONLY.
