The weather across Greater Manchester this weekend will be bright and sunny with some spells of heavy rain on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, the weather in Greater Manchester will largely follow the trends of the week, with sunny spells and the occasional shower.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the risk of showers across the country is minimal, while on Sunday, the heavy rain could reappear, particularly in the north west of England.<\/p>\n

It comes after a yellow warning for storms has been issued in the south of England on Thursday, with forecasters warning of up to 60mm of rain within two hours.<\/p>\n

The warning \u2013 which is in place from 10am until 9pm and covers areas such as Bristol, Southampton and Ipswich \u2013 could lead to significant public transport disruptions, road closures and power cuts.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester is not covered by the weather warning, and Mancs will be able to enjoy temperatures of up to 21C on Saturday and no lower than 13C on either day.<\/p>\n

There will be sunny intervals changing into cloudy conditions by night-time on Saturday; and on Sunday there will be light rain changing to sunny intervals by lunchtime.<\/p>\n

The showers on Sunday are predicted to start at around 4am and continue on through past 7am.<\/p>\n

Andy Page, the Met Office\u2019s chief meteorologist, said: \u201cA low-pressure system moving in from the Atlantic will bring thunderstorms and heavy showers during Thursday morning and through the afternoon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is mainly expected to affect southern parts of England and could produce torrential downpours in a few places, with as much as 25-35mm of rain falling within an hour and perhaps 60mm within two hours.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrequent lightning and hail will be additional hazards.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy Thursday night, the thunderstorms in the south of England are expected to ease, leaving behind largely dry and fine conditions.<\/p>\n

\u201cTemperatures will be cooler than recent nights, particularly away from the south east.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Met Office advises those who expect to be affected to prepare an emergency flood kit and check to ensure movable objects or temporary structures are well secured ahead of the gusty winds.<\/p>\n

It says that, upon hearing thunder, shelter in a safe, enclosed area should be sought, while areas under trees or other structures which may be struck should be avoided.<\/p>\n

On Friday, further heavy showers are set to hit the east of England, as well as northern and north-eastern Scotland.<\/p>\n
