Rebekah died after an incident at Knowsley Heights on Tuesday<\/p>\n

Merseyside police have charged a man with murder after a woman was stabbed to death in Huyton<\/a> this week. Police received a call at 10.30pm on Tuesday (April 15) that a woman, now known to be 32-year-old Rebekah Campbell, had been stabbed inside a flat at Knowsley<\/a> Heights.<\/p>\n

Officers attended and gave first aid to Rebekah until paramedics arrived. She was taken to hospital but died from her injuries.<\/p>\n

Michael Ormandy, 34, of Linacre Road, in Litherland<\/a>, was arrested the same evening and has today, Thursday April 17, been charged with murder.<\/p>\n

Ormandy has been remanded into custody and will next appear at Liverpool Magistrate’s Court on Saturday April 19.<\/p>\n

Earlier today Rebekah’s family paid tribute to her, saying: “Rebekah was our everything<\/a>. She was a happy young woman with her whole life ahead of her and had a genuine heart of gold. If it meant putting herself out to help someone, she wouldn\u2019t hesitate.<\/p>\n

“We are so proud of her. She was a support for vulnerable people and would use her own experiences to make other lives better.<\/p>\n

“We are so grateful for all the messages of condolences, and we didn\u2019t realise how many people\u2019s lives Rebekah had touched, which just reiterates to us how special she was.<\/p>\n

“As a family we would appreciate privacy at this time.”<\/p>\n

A series of heartbreaking tributes have been shared on social media from Rebekah’s loved ones who described her as a “beautiful, caring” woman who “loved being around her family and friends”.<\/p>\n

A cordon remained in place outside the entrance of Knowsley Heights<\/a> on Wednesday afternoon, and police divers could be seen searching part of the Leeds to Liverpool Canal in Litherland<\/a> in connection with the investigation.<\/p>\n

Pictures from the scene show a diver in the water and a number of officers stood on the canal bank. The entrance to the canal was taped off by police and a special unit vehicle could be seen parked nearby.<\/p>\n
