{"id":306443,"date":"2025-07-31T11:20:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-31T11:20:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/306443\/"},"modified":"2025-07-31T11:20:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T11:20:14","slug":"bristol-council-misses-net-zero-target","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/306443\/","title":{"rendered":"Bristol council misses net zero target"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.localgov.co.uk\/Image\/Bristol-council-misses-net-zero-target\/shutterstock_53216110311\/jpg\" alt=\"Bristol council misses net zero target image\" class=\"img-responsive img-full\"\/>Bristol City Council \u00a9 Claudio Divizia \/ Shutterstock.com.<br \/>\n        Bristol City Council is set to fall short of its goal to be a net zero council by the end of this financial year.<\/p>\n<p>After becoming the first council to declare a Climate Emergency in November 2018, the local authority set a target to become carbon neutral for its direct corporate emissions by the end of 2025\/26.<\/p>\n<p>A report by the council\u2019s Environment and Sustainability policy committee forecasts an 88% reduction in the authority\u2019s corporate emissions, which include emissions associated with its buildings and fleet, between 2016-2025.<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Martin Fodor, chair of the Environment and Sustainability committee, said the council\u2019s efforts at achieving net zero were \u2018bearing fruit\u2019 but added they \u2018cannot linger long if we\u2019re to meet the national target set in law.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Government has set a date of 2050 for the whole of the UK to be carbon neutral.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.localgov.co.uk\/form\/bulletin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1753960814_676_Politics &#038; Policy banner.png\" style=\"width: 100%;\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Bristol City Council \u00a9 Claudio Divizia \/ Shutterstock.com.
