Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has insisted the Eagles can\u2019t afford to lose any more players this summer as Liverpool continue to monitor Marc Guehi. The England international is out of contract next year, while the Reds are in the market for a new centre-back<\/p>\n
It has been a challenging summer for Palace to date, as speculation regarding the future of their captain continues. As things stand, they have been demoted to the Europa Conference League due UEFA\u2019s multi-club ownership rules, despite initially qualifying for the Europa League<\/a> by winning the FA Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, enduring a quiet transfer window to date, the Bosman signing of Walter Benitez from PSV Eindhoven and \u00a33m signing of Borna Sosa from Ajax have been their only new senior arrivals.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Darwin Nunez confusion as Liverpool star handed major bonus after Japan friendly<\/a>READ MORE: Alexis Mac Allister makes tearful Liverpool admission as Virgil van Dijk reacts to transfer exit<\/a><\/p>\n And while they are yet to lose any senior players, Arsenal are interested in star player Eberechi Eze, with fellow key man Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta also repeatedly linked with exits.<\/p>\n With the new Premier League<\/a> season now little over two weeks\u2019 away, Glasner has been left unsatisfied by Palace\u2019s lack of summer business.<\/p>\n And airing his frustration at their lack of incomings, he insisted the club cannot afford to lose any of their outfield players – including Guehi.<\/p>\n \u201cEven though all the players are still here, we haven\u2019t made the most of the transfer window so far,\u201d he told Kronen Zeitung<\/a>. \u201cI was promised that we would be more active and bring in the new players earlier this year.<\/p>\n \u201cAs of now, I have 17 outfield players! I hope we don\u2019t lose any more. If that happens and we get four new ones on deadline day like last year, another false start is possible.\u201d<\/p>\n Guehi had missed Palace\u2019s latest friendly against Crawley Town, though Glasner revealed his skipper\u2019s absence was down to injury rather than transfer speculation.<\/p>\n “Marc had a very small injury, but he will train with us on Sunday,\u201d he said at the time. “Eddie Nketiah, the same, so we don’t want to take any risk.”<\/p>\n Palace are next in action against Augsburg on Friday 1 August, before they face Liverpool<\/a> at Wembley in the Community Shield on Sunday 10 August.<\/p>\n It is currently unclear whether the Reds will look to sign Guehi this summer during the final month of the transfer window or instead wait for his contract to expire next year.<\/p>\n
