Although the iconic structure, designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/charles-and-ray-eames\/page\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles and Ray Eames<\/a> in 1949 as part of the Case Study House Program, was not directly damaged by flames, it required comprehensive cleaning and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/restoration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">restoration<\/a> to address the effects of smoke infiltration. As part of the reopening, the adjacent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/eames\/page\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eames<\/a> Studio, previously closed to the public, will now be accessible for the first time. All rights reserved.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Coinciding with the reopening, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/eames\/page\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eames<\/a> family has announced the formation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/eamesfoundation.org\/?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles &amp; Ray Eames Foundation<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/nonprofit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nonprofit<\/a> organization dedicated to preserving and expanding the couple&#8217;s multidisciplinary legacy across <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/architecture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">architecture<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/design\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">design<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">education<\/a>, and visual culture. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/foundation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Foundation<\/a> evolves from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/eames-house\/page\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eames House<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/preservation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Preservation<\/a> Foundation, established in 2004, and will take on broader responsibilities in programming, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/research\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">research<\/a>, and international collaboration. As part of its mandate, the Foundation will oversee long-term conservation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/66302\/ad-classics-eames-house-charles-and-ray-eames?ad_source=search&amp;ad_medium=projects_tab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eames House<\/a>, in partnership with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/getty-conservation-institute\/page\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Getty Conservation Institute<\/a>. The implementation of a Conservation Management Plan is now underway and will guide the site&#8217;s preservation efforts in the coming years. The upcoming Eames Architecture program, scheduled for 2026, will explore the couple&#8217;s contributions to residential architecture, particularly in the realm of prefabrication and experimentation with industrial materials. In 2026, the Foundation will host the inaugural Eames Conference in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/los-angeles\/page\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Los Angeles<\/a>, convening scholars, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/architects\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">architects<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/designers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">designers<\/a>, and curators to explore new perspectives on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/eames\/page\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eames<\/a> legacy.
