{"id":306797,"date":"2025-07-31T14:34:19","date_gmt":"2025-07-31T14:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/306797\/"},"modified":"2025-07-31T14:34:19","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T14:34:19","slug":"peaky-blinders-creator-says-ozzy-osbournes-music-is-the-birmingham-soundtrack-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/306797\/","title":{"rendered":"Peaky Blinders creator says Ozzy Osbourne\u2019s music is \u2018the Birmingham soundtrack\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 65-year-old, who grew up in the Birmingham area and whose BBC crime drama is set in the city, told the PA news agency that the procession, which saw Osbourne\u2019s family travel through Birmingham with his hearse, saw an \u201coutpouring of love\u201d for the singer and the city from fans who gathered on the route.<\/p>\n<p>Knight told PA: \u201cHe and Tony Iommi, and Geezer (Butler), and all of those people, I don\u2019t know whether people know that they\u2019re from a pretty tough part of town and they had quite tough lives, and they just sort of decided to do this thing, to make this music.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe music, it\u2019s so Birmingham because they were working in factories, and that work was very, very noisy, I worked occasionally in factories, and there is always a rhythm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s always a dominant machine, it\u2019s like, \u2018bang, bang, bang\u2019, and they just turn that into music, and that\u2019s why I think it is the Birmingham soundtrack, heavy metal, and then people underestimate how popular metal is all over the world, so it\u2019s incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/2.81138796.jpg\" alt=\"Ozzy Osbourne death\" data-title=\"Ozzy Osbourne death\" data-copyright-holder=\"PA Wire\" data-copyright-notice=\"PA Wire\/PA Images\" data-credit=\"Joe Giddens\" data-usage-terms=\"\"  \/>The hearse carrying the body of Ozzy Osbourne was paraded through Birmingham on Wednesday (Joe Giddens\/PA)<\/p>\n<p>The procession saw Osbourne\u2019s widow Sharon, son Jack and daughters Aimee and Kelly stop at the Black Sabbath bench in the city to inspect tributes, with thousands of fans lining the route around Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p>Knight\u2019s latest project is Built In Birmingham: Brady And The Blues, a new Prime Video series he has worked as executive producer on which focuses on Birmingham City, the football team he supports, and their takeover by American footballer Tom Brady and US businessman Tom Wagner.<\/p>\n<p>In the series\u2019 first episode, Knight remarks that people from Birmingham \u201cdon\u2019t like to shout about\u201d their city.<\/p>\n<p>He explains: \u201cI think amongst Brummies, there\u2019s this thing of, \u2018don\u2019t get too big for your boots\u2019, and so anybody who starts shouting out about Birmingham will get that reaction, or previously would have got that reaction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I do feel, really do sense the change in the city, and in the population of the city, the people are actually saying, \u2018well, it\u2019s our turn\u2019, and it really is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Knight is best known for his Peaky Blinders series, which follows Tommy Shelby and his Birmingham gang of the series\u2019 name, and has covered topics such as the rise of fascism, Irish republican politics and communist activities through the period following the First World War across its six series.<\/p>\n<p>The producer was also one of the creators of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and the sole creator of SAS: Rogue Heroes.
