{"id":307208,"date":"2025-07-31T18:14:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-31T18:14:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/307208\/"},"modified":"2025-07-31T18:14:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T18:14:12","slug":"what-happened-in-emma-raducanus-last-two-matches-with-amanda-anisimova-ahead-of-their-canadian-open-clash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/307208\/","title":{"rendered":"What happened in Emma Raducanu&#8217;s last two matches with Amanda Anisimova ahead of their Canadian Open clash"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Emma Raducanu\u2019s campaign at the Canadian Open continues following an impressive performance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old took on America\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/peyton-stearns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peyton Stearns<\/a> for a spot in the round of 32 at the WTA 1000 event.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/emma-raducanus-instant-reaction-on-court-after-beating-peyton-stearns-in-canada-i-am-really-happy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Raducanu beat Stearns<\/a> for the loss of just six games and won 68% of her second serve points while converting four of 10 break points.<\/p>\n<p>The British number one is now preparing to face one of her best friends on tour and the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/opinion\/amanda-anisimova-has-an-important-decision-to-make-after-losing-0-6-0-6-in-the-wimbledon-final\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wimbledon runner-up, Amanda Anisimova<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2194132148-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Emma Raducanu and Amanda Anisimova embrace after their 2025 Australian Open second round match\" class=\"wp-image-116527\" \/>Photo by Clive Brunskill\/Getty Images<strong>Looking back at Emma Raducanu\u2019s previous matches against Amanda Anisimova before they play in Canada<\/strong><strong>2025 Australian Open \u2013 Raducanu defeated Anisimova 6-3, 7-5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/emma-raducanu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emma Raducanu<\/a> has played Anisimova on two occasions, the first of which came in January\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/australian-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australian Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The pair clashed in the second round of the Grand Slam, and the American went up a break in both sets.<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu took two medical timeouts in that match as she struggled with a back injury, but she found a way to overturn the deficit and Raducanu claimed a 6-3 7-5 win over Anisimova at Melbourne Park.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo make it past the second round means a lot to me,\u201d Raducanu said after the match which included 13 breaks of serve. \u201cI was able to push past some pain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2206726079-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Emma Raducanu celebrates winning a pint against Amanda Anisimova at the Miami Open Presented by Itau 2025\" class=\"wp-image-116528\" \/>Photo by Matthew Stockman\/Getty Images<strong>2025 Miami Open \u2013 Raducanu defeated Anisimova 6-1, 6-3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Raducanu played against Anisimova for a second time, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/miami-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miami Open<\/a> in March.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being on home soil, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/emma-raducanu-says-that-she-is-really-happy-with-a-statistic-she-achieved-in-her-miami-open-victory-against-amanda-anisimova\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anisimova was defeated by Raducanu<\/a>, who produced a far more convincing performance than in Melbourne two months prior.<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu won the first set in just 24 minutes and she did not lose a point on serve throughout the opening set.<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu then claimed two breaks of serve throughout the second set before securing a 6-1, 6-3 win to advance to the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Amanda Anisimova says what she thinks of Emma Raducanu<\/p>\n<p>Anisimova has made her presence felt on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTA<\/a> this year. She won her first WTA 1000 title at the Qatar Open in February, and she reached the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wimbledon<\/a> final, where she lost to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/iga-swiatek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iga Swiatek<\/a> without winning a game.<\/p>\n<p>Anisimova made great strides during the season, while Raducanu is having a resurgence following her run to the Citi Open semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>The pair have struck a good friendship from their time on tour, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/amanda-anisimova-shares-what-her-relationship-is-like-with-emma-raducanu-ahead-of-their-australian-open-second-round-match\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anisimova expressed what she thinks of Raducanu<\/a> before their Australian Open clash in January.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s a friend of mine so it will be a bit interesting but I\u2019m sure that we will both give it our all and I\u2019m looking forward to the battle,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve both been around the tour. We\u2019re the same age. We also have a mutual friend, Priscilla Hon. We\u2019ve hung out a few times all together. She\u2019s a nice girl.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s always bringing a good energy into the room. Also an amazing competitor. I\u2019m looking forward to the match.
