Fans of Ridley rejoice – a season two release date has been confirmed.<\/p>\n

Starring Adrian Dunbar and Bronagh Waugh, season one of the hit detective drama followed titular detective Alex Ridley, who is coaxed out of retirement to consult on a murder case for his former prot\u00e9g\u00e9e, DI Carol Farman.<\/p>\n

The show garnered rave reviews from critics and fans alike, and they were left overjoyed when Ridley was commissioned for a second season in 2023.<\/p>\n

Season 2 has already aired in the US, and it’s now been announced that it will premiere here in the UK on ITV1 on 10 August at 8pm. <\/p>\n

If you don’t want to watch each episode week by week, the whole series will be available to stream as a box set on ITVX from the same date.<\/p>\n

The new episodes will follow Ridley working as a police consultant alongside Farman, who has taken over the precinct.<\/p>\n

The official synopsis continues: “Ridley must face formidable challenges as he works tirelessly to solve the most intricate and perplexing cases.”<\/p>\n

Alongside Dunbar and Waugh, Terence Maynard returns as DCI Paul Goodwin alongside Georgie Glen as Dr Wendy Newstone and George Bukhari as DC Darren Lakhan. <\/p>\n

Speaking to Digital Spy<\/strong> back when season one was released, Dunbar opened up on the importance of the show’s depiction of male mental health<\/a>.

“I think a lot of men feel that they should just be able to kind of deal with stuff on their own and bury it and somehow work their way through it,” he began.<\/p>\n

“But it takes a big toll on yourself. So you’ll see him crumble quite a bit, especially when he’s on his own.
<\/p>\n

“He finds it very difficult, and I suppose getting back to work is the start of a healing process. But yes, I think people should [take that away]. Isolation is a big deal, especially in rural areas. A lot of men in particular who are isolated if they’re alone. They do suffer greatly.”<\/p>\n

Outside of Ridley, Dunbar recently gave Line of Duty fans an exciting update on the future of the show<\/a>.
<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re really excited about getting our hands on a Line of Duty script, to see what happens to us. Jed [Mercurio] is writing. We\u2019ve talked to the BBC,” the Superintendent Ted Hastings actor told The Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“It is down to the BBC to make an announcement, but we\u2019re keeping our fingers crossed that next year we\u2019ll be working on a new series. No doubt Jed will think of some interesting twists and turns.”<\/p>\n

Ridley season two will premiere on ITV on 10 August at 8pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n
