Jessica Chastain is the latest star to call out the all-female crew of Blue Origin\u2019s New Shepard \u2014 which included Katy Perry, Lauren S\u00e1nchez and Gayle King \u2014 that took off for outer space<\/a> earlier this week.<\/p>\n

The \u201cMartian\u201d star, 48, shared on X <\/a>Thursday an opinion piece written in the Guardian titled, \u201cThe Blue Origin flight showcased the utter defeat of American feminism.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chastain did not pen the article herself. However, her sharing it with her nearly one million followers on the social media platform seemingly showed she approved of the message.<\/p>\n

The actress re-posted an opinion piece titled, \u201cThe Blue Origin flight showcased the utter defeat of American feminism.\u201d Jessica Chastain\/X<\/p>\n

In the piece, columnist Moira Donegan writes in part that the star-studded Blue Origin flight \u201cserved as a kind of perverse funeral for the America that once enabled both scientific advancement and feminist progress \u2013 a spectacle that mocked these aspirations by appropriating them for such an indulgent and morally hollow purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n

The writer also slammed Jeff Bezos\u2019 aerospace company as a \u201ctestament to the corruption and circumscribed possibilities of the profit motive run amok.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chastain\u2019s X post was preceded by backlash from other celebs like Olivia Munn who said before take-off that the flight was \u201ca bit gluttonous\u201d<\/a> because it costs \u201cso much money to go to space.\u201d<\/p>\n

Olivia Wilde then\u00a0remarked <\/a>following Perry, S\u00e1nchez and King\u2019s nearly 11-minute space flight and subsequent safe landing on Earth, \u201cBillion dollars bought some good memes I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n

People have criticized the stars because of how expensive it is to go to space. Blue Origin<\/p>\n

Emily Ratajkowski added that she was\u00a0\u201cdisgusted\u201d by the mission<\/a> because of the possible harmful effects launching a rocket into space could have on the planet. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou care about Mother Earth and it\u2019s about Mother Earth, and you\u2019re going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that\u2019s singlehandedly destroying the planet?\u201d the model, 33, asked.<\/p>\n

The fast-food chain Wendy\u2019s even got in on the criticism<\/a> by jokingly asking, \u201cCan we send her back,\u201d while referring to the \u201cE.T.\u201d pop star\u2019s return to Earth.<\/p>\n

A source told Page Six Thursday Perry, 40, thought the restaurant\u2019s diss was \u201cinappropriate,\u201d <\/a>adding, \u201cThere\u2019s a clear difference between humor and targeted hostility and this wasn\u2019t harmless banter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perry has defended her space flight, calling it a \u201csupernatural\u201d journey and disputing assertions that it was just a \u201cride\u201d or a \u201cdestination.\u201d<\/p>\n

King, 70, meanwhile, also hit back at the backlash<\/a>, saying at a post-flight panel, \u201cAnybody that\u2019s criticizing doesn\u2019t really understand what is happening here. We can all speak to the response we\u2019re getting from young women, from young girls about what this represents.\u201d<\/p>\n

S\u00e1nchez \u2014 who\u00a0is engaged<\/a>\u00a0to Bezos, 61 \u2014 said she gets \u201cfired up\u201d over all the negative feedback.<\/p>\n

S\u00e1nchez commended those who \u201cput their heart and soul\u201d into their rocketship. via REUTERS<\/p>\n

\u201cI would love to have them come to Blue Origin and see the thousands of employees that don\u2019t just work here, but they put their heart and soul into this vehicle,\u201d the philanthropist, 55, said. \u201cThey love their work, and they love the mission, and it\u2019s a big deal for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jessica Alba has since backed S\u00e1nchez<\/a> and the other members of the crew, which also included NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn.<\/p>\n

The \u201cHoney\u201d star, 43, co-signed a statement written by \u201cView\u201d co-host Ana Navarro that read, \u201cI wish people would show [the] same energy and focus that anger toward fearlessly denouncing [President] Trump\u2019s abuses of power. Which do affect countless lives in the US and the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
