A man has been arrested at a protest outside a hotel in Hoylake<\/a>. It is the third day that people have protested outside the hotel in Wirral<\/a>.<\/p>\n Police said a 25-year-old man from the Sefton<\/a> area has been arrested on suspicion of inviting support for a proscribed (banned) terrorist organisation. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO<\/a> that the offence is alleged to have occurred outside of the Merseyside area.<\/p>\n He is in police custody to be questioned.<\/p>\n Tonight two separate groups gathered outside a hotel with a police presence keeping them apart. At around 6.45pm our reporter witnessed a man being arrested.<\/p>\n People began arriving at the hotel at around 5pm this evening with police outside the entrance of the hotel.<\/p>\n One woman at the front of the protest was wearing a “Free Tommy Robinson” t-shirt and waving two Union Jack flags.<\/p>\n Pictures taken by the ECHO show two groups on opposite sides of the entrance with banners and flags. On one side a poster reads “No More immigrants. We are full.” with several Union Jack flags and on the opposite side “Hoylake rejects hate” and “Refugees welcome.”<\/p>\n Around 40 counter-protestors were outside the hotel with a message displayed saying “no excuse for racism” and “stop the far right” printed on posters.<\/p>\n Earlier this week Reform UK and the Conservatives both issued letters claiming that asylum seekers would be put into the hotel.<\/p>\n David Burgess-Joyce, the Chairman the Wirral Branch of Reform, claimed “undocumented, illegal male immigrants” are staying in the hotel.<\/p>\n Councillors Max Booth, Tony Cox and Andrew Garden said that relocations of “single males” would begin this week.<\/p>\n The ECHO has contacted the Home Office for more information.<\/p>\n For the latest news and breaking news visit liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news<\/a><\/p>\n Get all the big headlines, pictures, analysis, opinion and video on the stories that matter to you by signing up to our daily and breaking newsletter<\/a>.<\/p>\n
