I seem to have a knack for setting something down and immediately forgetting its existence. Whether it’s due to my personal wiring or the relentless pace of contemporary life, this habit has cost me countless hours – let’s not even mention the time I misplaced my sunglasses on a remote Scottish island.<\/p>\n

Bluetooth trackers like AirTags<\/a> appear to be designed specifically for individuals like myself. First introduced around the start of the decade, these small, relatively affordable tags have assisted millions of us in keeping a constant eye on our valuables.<\/p>\n

For iPhone users, the AirTag has always been the benchmark, boasting superior tracking capabilities courtesy of the extensive iOS network. Having owned one myself, I was doubtful that any of the less expensive alternatives could match its technical prowess.<\/p>\n

However, after testing UGREEN’s latest Bluetooth trackers, namely the FineTracker Tag<\/a> and Wallet Tracker<\/a>, I find it difficult to recommend AirTags over these alternatives. With only a few features sacrificed and a price point significantly lower than Apple’s, these are brilliant additions to gadget collections for those who frequently misplace their belongings.<\/p>\n

As reported by the Manchester Evening News<\/a>, the FineTracker Tag is similar in size to an AirTag, albeit slightly larger. However, I didn’t find the size difference noticeable and actually appreciated the inclusion of a keyring loop, saving me from having to purchase an additional AirTag case.<\/p>\n

With only a few features sacrificed and a price point significantly lower than Apple’s, this tracker is ideal for those who frequently misplace their belongings.<\/p>\n

The Wallet Tracker is equally impressive in its design, being only marginally thicker than a typical credit card at 1.7mm. It fits perfectly into my wallet, already crammed with more random loyalty cards than necessary, without any issues – I barely notice it’s there during everyday use.<\/p>\n

These straightforward devices contain just a single button used for pairing them with your phone. Setting up both of these trackers with my iPhone was incredibly easy, taking less than a minute to add to the Find My app alongside my existing AirTag.<\/p>\n

In fact, when viewed in the app next to an AirTag, you wouldn’t be able to tell which device is which at first glance. The differences only become apparent when you delve further into the menu, as the AirTag<\/a> boasts some slightly higher-end features compared to the UGREEN devices.<\/p>\n

During my testing, I encountered no problems with the location reported from each of these UGREEN Trackers. They always appeared accurately on the Find My map, with my iPhone alerting me when I left one of them behind after moving outside their Bluetooth range.<\/p>\n

Both the Tag<\/a> and the Wallet Tracker<\/a> come with a fairly loud speaker that emits a beeping sound when the location is pinged from your phone. Although I found this to be slightly quieter than the AirTag, it was still loud enough to be heard across my flat while in a rush to find my keys.<\/p>\n

Priced at \u00a39.99 for the Tag and \u00a324.99 for the Wallet Tracker, these packages offer a solid Bluetooth tracker experience. However, there are a few significant advantages that come with choosing an AirTag over UGREEN.<\/p>\n

Firstly, AirTags<\/a> connect to all iPhones to regularly update their locations, which is far more useful if you misplace something as you have a much better chance of locating it. These UGREEN tags only update their location when physically reported by another user, or when they move out of your own phone’s Bluetooth range, so if you lose one of them, your phone can only guide you back to the last known location of the item until someone else finds and reports it.<\/p>\n

Another feature users are missing out on is the Ultra-Wide Band location tracing that AirTags possess. Select one of Apple’s devices in the FindMy app and one’s phone will display an arrow that points to the exact location of the tracker within a few feet – the UGREEN trackers are limited to beeping to help locate them.<\/p>\n

However, I’ve found that the loud beeps from the UGREEN trackers are usually sufficient for locating my items quickly, making the UWB tracing feature somewhat redundant. Especially considering you can get the UGREEN Tag<\/a> for a third of the price, it doesn’t seem worth the extra cost.<\/p>\n

The battery life on both UGREEN devices is expected to last over a year, which is impressive for such small gadgets. The Tag’s battery can be easily replaced by popping off the case and swapping out the watch battery inside.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Wallet Tracker<\/a>, due to its slim profile, comes with a proprietary magnetic charger included in the box for when it needs recharging. Ironically, I think it’s inevitable that the charging cable will get lost, especially as it won’t be needed again for another year, but this is a necessary compromise given that the Wallet Tracker is thinner than a USB C port.<\/p>\n

All considered, I was pleasantly surprised by how closely the UGREEN FineTrackers match up to Apple’s leading AirTags<\/a> in terms of functionality. While they lack the network of iOS devices for more frequent location updates, there’s hardly any compromise elsewhere in their design.<\/p>\n

I appreciate the convenience of attaching the Tag directly to my keys without requiring an extra case, and I’m also fond of the Wallet Tracker’s slim design that doesn’t add any unnecessary bulk to a wallet already brimming with loyalty cards. With the Tag<\/a> now available for only \u00a39.99 and the Wallet Tracker<\/a> for \u00a324.99, it would be challenging to find more affordable Bluetooth tracker alternatives.<\/p>\n

For Samsung smartphone owners, the Galaxy SmartTag2<\/a> is another popular tracker choice.
