{"id":309021,"date":"2025-08-01T10:41:16","date_gmt":"2025-08-01T10:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/309021\/"},"modified":"2025-08-01T10:41:16","modified_gmt":"2025-08-01T10:41:16","slug":"wales-name-19-player-squad-for-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/309021\/","title":{"rendered":"Wales name 19-player squad for Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wales Women\u2019s head coach Tom Brindle has named his <a href=\"https:\/\/rugbyleague.wales\/womens-squad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">19-player squad<\/a> for the senior international match against Scotland at The Lextan Gnoll in Neath this Sunday (kick-off 4pm).<\/p>\n<p>The match is part of a big weekend at the ground, with <a href=\"https:\/\/wrl.wales\/unbeaten-aberavon-look-to-defend-their-trophy-on-saturday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the senior JES Group Conference Grand Finals taking place there on Saturday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is one potential debutant in the Wales squad in Olivia Williams who plays for Cardiff Demons, the side that are currently top of the RFL Women\u2019s Championship table.<\/p>\n<p>Two more Demons players, Ffion Jones and Amberley Ruck, are set to win their first caps in three years, with injuries keeping them out of the World Cup qualifying campaign. Kathryn Salter also returns after missing a Wales match for the first time last autumn. She, along with Charlie Mundy, are the only two players in this squad who took part in Wales Women\u2019s first game back in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s congratulations to Georgia Cussons, who is set to play her first international match under her new name following her recent marriage. She has previously won five caps under her maiden name Taylor.<\/p>\n<p>This encounter will be Scotland\u2019s first ever women\u2019s international rugby league match, but some of their potential line-up have previously played for England.<\/p>\n<p>Brindle said: \u201cWe are expecting a really tough test against Scotland, they\u2019ve managed to pull a strong squad together with a lot of rugby league experience across the Women\u2019s Super League and Championship competitions with a number of players with international experience.
