South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue has partnered with Sheffield games studio, Peek & Poke for a new fire safety game.<\/p>\n

Blaze Runner is a free online game to encourage families to download and complete a fire escape plan together.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited to share this game which we hope will be a lot of fun but also get people thinking about how they can keep themselves and their families safe with an escape plan,\u201d explained Chris Tyler, Group Manager at South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.<\/p>\n

\u201cKnowing what to do in the event of a fire can be the difference between life and death, that\u2019s why I\u2019d urge everyone to download the plan template and take 10 minutes to consider and discuss your plan over the summer holidays.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Sheffield studio built the game to act as a fun engagement tool to capture the attention of families. It uses Peek & Poke\u2019s Maze game as a base and this has been tailored for campaign requirements with fire enemies and in-game collectibles \u2013 such as a phone to call 999 and keys to get out of the house.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve really enjoyed working with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue on Blaze Runner. It\u2019s great to support a local service in spreading their fire safety message, especially in a way that\u2019s fun and memorable,\u201d added Tim Cooper, Director at Peek & Poke.<\/p>\n
