Often referred to as the ‘Maldives of Europe,’ Albania attracts thousands of Brits each year.<\/a><\/p>\n

Now, even more travellers will be able to enjoy its warm weather, beautiful landscapes and pristine beaches.<\/p>\n

Budget airline operator Wizz Air has announced a new route will be commencing from\u00a0London Gatwick to Tirana in Albania.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Beginning from October 26, 2025, visitors will be able to board\u00a0five flights a week.<\/p>\n

Wizz Air already flies to Tirana from London<\/a> Luton, making this the airline’s second route to the Albanian capital.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tickets are expected to be priced from \u00a319.99 and flights for the new route will be operated by the Airbus A321neo.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wizz Air describes the plane as the ‘most efficient single-aisle aircraft on the market’.<\/p>\n

Yvonne Moynihan, Managing Director at Wizz Air UK, expressed how ‘delighted’ the company was to be giving its customers the opportunity to explore ‘untapped destinations’ such as Albania.<\/p>\n

She said: ‘We are delighted to announce our new route from London Gatwick to Tirana, adding to our existing routes from London Luton.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘With Albania increasingly recognised as the “Maldives of Europe”, this route allows more of our customers to discover untapped destinations across southeastern Europe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

‘This flight marks our 88th route available from London this year, and we’re proud to continue investing in our airline to provide more affordable and unique travel experiences for our customers.’<\/p>\n

Last year, Wizz Air became the first budget airline to launch flights from the UK to Saudi Arabia<\/a>, promising ‘unbeatable fares’ using new long-haul Airbus A321XLR.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

The carrier announced it would begin flying between Gatwick<\/a> Airport and Jeddah from March 31, 2025.<\/p>\n

The enhanced fuel capacity of the jets means they have a maximum range of up to 11 hours flying time and burn up to 30% less fuel per seat than previous generation aircraft, according to Airbus.<\/p>\n

The aircraft also has a capacity of 244 passengers, but it is up to airlines to decide whether to add long-haul comforts like reclining seats and entertainment units.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Its enhanced range capability allows Wizz Air to connect the farthest destinations in its network, while also providing opportunities for further expansion, connecting more cultures, economies and continents.<\/p>\n

‘We are excited to offer unbeatable fares to our customers on the new route from London Gatwick to Jeddah.<\/p>\n

‘Since establishing our base at London Gatwick in 2020, we have demonstrated ambitious growth, making it a natural, strategic decision to operate our first Airbus A321XLR from this airport.’<\/p>\n
