The team behind The Clifton<\/strong><\/a>, a well\u2011loved neighbourhood pub in Bristol, have announced the venue\u2019s closure after two years of trading.<\/p>\n

Known for its seasonal menus and community\u2011focused approach, the pub has been part of a small group that also operates the Hare &\u00a0Hounds<\/a> and Heatchcock in Wales.<\/p>\n

The Michelin Guide<\/a> awarded The Clifton a Bib Gourmand<\/a> as\u00a0part of its 2024 Great Britain & Ireland list.<\/p>\n

The Clifton delivered seasonal gastro-pub cooking\u00a0with a strong edge of<\/p>\n

A heartfelt farewell<\/p>\n

In a statement shared on social media, the team expressed their sadness and gratitude to staff and guests.<\/p>\n

The post read: \u201cIt is with heavy hearts and the deepest regret that we announce the closure of The Clifton. It\u2019s been a tough few years for hospitality; we\u2019ve put our heart and soul into the pub over the last few years, but it\u2019s not been an easy ride.<\/p>\n

“If you have an upcoming booking we\u2019ll be in touch, and if you have a gift voucher, we\u2019ll be honouring them at our other pubs in Wales; our sister pubs, Hare & Hounds and Heathcock, will be staying open as normal and will be unaffected by this.<\/p>\n

“Thank you to our wonderful team over the last two years, and to our lovely customers who have enjoyed food and drink with us. We\u2019ll miss being in Bristol and part of this lovely village community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bookings and vouchers<\/p>\n

The group confirmed that anyone with future bookings will be contacted directly. Gift vouchers purchased for The Clifton will remain valid and can be redeemed at their other Welsh pubs. Both the Hare & Hounds<\/strong> and Heathcock<\/strong> will continue operating as usual.<\/p>\n

Part of Bristol\u2019s pub revival<\/p>\n

When it opened, The Clifton quickly became part of Bristol\u2019s growing modern pub scene, known for focusing on local produce, craft beers, and seasonal menus. Its closure underscores the difficulties faced by hospitality operators across the UK in recent years, from rising costs to shifting dining habits.<\/p>\n
