Jason Manford has shared a Liverpool message after the comedian was forced to cancel his tour dates after suddenly falling ill. The 44-year-old was taken to hospital and had to undergo appendix surgery. He told fans he was “gutted” to have to cancel his upcoming shows.<\/p>\n
The statement, <\/a>posted to the star’s Instagram and Facebook<\/a> pages, read: “We regret to inform you that the following performances of A Manford All Seasons have been unexpectedly cancelled due to Jason Manford being unwell.”<\/p>\n Jason took to social media to explain his sudden illness<\/a>. He said: “I was literally filming stuff until 2pm yesterday and 3pm it hit me. By 5pm I had collapsed on the hospital waiting room floor! Madness.”<\/p>\n Posting a photo in a hospital gown and lying on a hospital bed, Jason shared: “Appendix surgery all went well, now in recovery with my Vimto, they serve it in all Manchester hospitals.<\/p>\n “Bit of a scary & extremely painful 24 hours but thankful to our NHS and my incredible nurse mum who\u2019s a godsend in a health crisis! My advice would be to not get Appendicitis <\/a>whilst driving at 70mph on the motorway!”<\/p>\n He added: “Seriously though, I\u2019m gutted that I\u2019ve had to move the dates this weekend, and I\u2019m sorry for the late notice to so many people in St Albans, Oxford, Lincoln, Skegness & at Kendal Calling.<\/p>\n “I thought I could get by on antibiotics and surgery at a later date so I could still do the shows, but was advised not to. Also means I can\u2019t fly out to Portugal on Monday to join my family on holiday! Ah well, such is life. Thanks for all the \u2018Get Well Soon\u2019 messages.”<\/p>\n Jason has been sent hundreds of messages of support. <\/a>Fellow comedian John Bishop wrote: “That smock suits you”, alongside a smiling face emoji.<\/p>\n John Bishop<\/a> recently took to his own social media page to share the news that he will be “stepping in to fill his boots” at Kendal Calling. The two day music and arts festival is due to take place this weekend, and Jason was set to take to the stage on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n The Scouse comedian<\/a> posted on Instagram: “Unfortunately, Jason Manford can\u2019t make Kendal Calling this weekend – but I\u2019ll be stepping in to fill his boots! Wishing Jason a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing you all there!”<\/p>\n Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n The 58-year-old star <\/a>also shared a video to tell fans he will be appearing at the festival in Manford’s place this weekend. Speaking about Jason’s operation, Bishop said: “It means he can’t do the gigs he had lined up so some of his shows I know have been cancelled.<\/p>\n “But the one that can’t be cancelled is Kendal Calling on Sunday afternoon. So he’s asked me if I’m free and I am so I’m going to step up and fill Jason’s boots.” He added: “So if you want to come along, please do.”<\/p>\n
