Here\u2019s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.<\/p>\n
We start this week at Middleton Railway<\/strong><\/a> where they are marking Yorkshire Day by hosting a food and drink festival this weekend. A Taste of Yorkshire<\/strong><\/a> will feature over 25 traders tempting you with a wide range of products, hot food, beers, ciders and cocktails. There will also be live music and free children\u2019s entertainment all weekend. The festival runs on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm.<\/p>\n Volunteers<\/strong><\/a> will be meeting at 10am on Saturday at Hunslet Cemetery<\/strong>, Middleton Road, to carry out various tidying up activities. New people are always welcome and equipment is provided.<\/p>\n The Church of the Nazarene<\/strong><\/a> host a coffee morning with affordable breakfast<\/strong> on Saturday morning, 10am-12pm. Lupton Street, Hunslet, LS10 2QR.<\/p>\n The Tower Works Street Fest<\/strong><\/a> continues on Saturday and Sunday, 12-9pm, off Water Lane in Holbeck. You will find fresh produce and street food to handmade crafts, original art, craft beer, specialty coffee, live music, and so much more.<\/p>\n Saturday sees Hunslet Nelson<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s Second XI take on Townville CC Second XI at their Gipsy Lane ground, LS11 5TT starting at 12:30pm.<\/p>\n On Saturday afternoon the Beeston Repair Caf\u00e9<\/strong><\/a> launches. Bring broken electricals, cloths needing alterations, a bike that needs attention. The volunteer fixers will do their best to mend them. 1-4pm at St Luke\u2019s CARES shop, 246 Dewsbury Road, LS11 6JQ.<\/p>\n Hunslet ARLFC<\/strong><\/a> entertain York Acorn on Saturday afternoon at The Oval, opposite Morrisons. Kick off is at 2:30pm.<\/p>\n On Sunday afternoon it\u2019s time for Middleton\u2019s Got Talent<\/strong><\/a>. The Friends of Middleton Park present an afternoon bursting with local talent, creativity, and community spirit. Hosted by DJ Danny, the event will showcase musicians and singers. Enjoy crafting, face painting, and family-friendly fun throughout the park. Grab a coffee from CoffeeSynthesis or a slice from Papa Dan\u2019s Pizza, both serving up delicious treats all afternoon. 12-4pm on the bandstand by the visitor centre.<\/p>\n The Hamara Centre<\/strong><\/a> on Tempest Road, LS11 6RD are running a debating club<\/strong> this week, Monday to Thursday, 10am-12pm. The first is at Hunslet Moor, LS11 5NL, on Tuesday. Then on Thursday they will be at Coopers Field, Belle Isle, LS10 3HF. Both events run from 12-3pm, featuring inflatables, games, crafts and more. They are free, there\u2019s no need to book, just turn up and have fun.<\/p>\n Acclaimed Japanese drummer Ryosuke Kiyasu<\/strong> will be performing at Eiger Studios<\/strong>, New Craven Gate, LS11 5NF, on Tuesday with\u00a0support from Kawaiiyasu & Andi Jackson. Activities will include various water activities, a sand pit, chalk art, den building, bubbles, parachute games and sports.\u00a0The Big Bike Fix<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0will be on hand providing free\u00a0simple\u00a0bike repairs. No need to book, just turn up.<\/p>\n Yorkshire Contemporary kick off their free paint and play sessions, Paint Maze<\/strong><\/a> in Cross Flatts Park this week. Sessions run every Wednesday and Thursday in August from 11am-2pm, just below the tennis courts.<\/p>\n The Greenmounts & Surrounding Area Tenants & Residents Association<\/strong><\/a> will meet on Wednesday at 6:30pm at Rowland Road Working Men\u2019s Club, LS11 6ED.<\/p>\n On Thursday, Beeston Community Forum<\/strong><\/a> meets at 7:30pm at Beeston Village Community Centre, off Town Street, LS11 8DQ.<\/p>\n There is a Police Contact Point at Cottingley Community Centre on Friday, 10am-12pm. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team<\/strong><\/a> in an informal setting.<\/p>\n
