The maker of Birmingham City\u2019s new shock doc said \u2018phenomenal\u2019 NFL legend Tom Brady<\/a> would question \u2018anybody\u2019s work ethic\u2019 – let alone Wayne Rooney\u2019s<\/a>.<\/p>\n Peaky Blinders<\/a> creator Steven Knight, who was an executive producer on Prime Video\u2019s Built In Birmingham: Brady And The Blues, said fans should not fret the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback had laid into one of England’s football heroes.<\/p>\n He said Brady was so driven that anyone who was not doing \u2018absolutely everything they can\u2019 24\/7 would have come into his firing line.<\/p>\n We told yesterday how the US star – known as the G.O.A.T or Greatest Of All Time – seemed unimpressed after watching one of Rooney\u2019s team meetings and training sessions during his ill-fated 83-day stint as Birmingham City\u2019s manager.<\/p>\n Brady, 47, was filmed trying to school Rooney, telling him: \u201cI treated practice like it was the Super Bowl. Every practice we\u2019d do a two minute drill at the end of the game.<\/p>\n \u201cI would throw a touchdown, at practice, and stand there being like,\u2019f***, we won the game\u2019 even though it was practice, you know?<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then my team mates were like, \u2018f***, that\u2019s how we\u2019re going to do it, this is real, make them earn everything\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n After a pause Rooney replied: \u201cBut no, they\u2019re a good group of lads to be fair.\u201d<\/p>\n Shortly afterwards Brady told his business manager Ben Rawitz: \u201cI\u2019m a little worried about our head coach\u2019s work ethic.\u201d<\/p>\n Rawitz replied: \u201cComes across as lackadaisical.\u201d<\/p>\n Angry fans sprang to Manchester United<\/a> and England legend Rooney\u2019s defence branding the quarterback \u2018anti-Ted Lasso\u2019 and suggesting he should \u2018stay in his lane\u2019 as he knew nothing about \u2018soccer\u2019.<\/p>\n But Steven suggested Wayne, who has not commented on Brady\u2019s remarks, should not take it too personally.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cI think Tom Brady would question anybody\u2019s work ethic.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is so phenomenal. He just cannot bear to lose. It’s just not an option.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd so anyone who isn’t doing absolutely everything they can every hour of the day to make success happen is not pulling their weight.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I did feel a bit for Wayne.\u201d<\/p>\n Rooney, 39, was sacked after City managed just two wins in his 15 matches in charge.<\/p>\n The club was relegated to League One at the end of the season.<\/p>\n Rooney, who remains United’s record top goalscorer and England\u2019s second highest, has bounced back by recently signing an \u00a3800,000 deal to be a BBC Match Of The Day pundit.<\/p>\n Steven said the five-part documentary told the story of Brady, who would \u2018win and win and win\u2019, taking over a team that \u2018loses and draws\u2019 and has \u2018just a completely different culture and ethic.<\/p>\n It produced \u2018fantastic moments in terms of entertainment\u2019, he said, and would reassure fans of all clubs that \u2018we\u2019re all the same\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cWe all want the same thing for our club,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe’re all unreasonable about our club.<\/p>\n \u201cWe all want us to win the Champions League<\/a>.
