{"id":310841,"date":"2025-08-02T02:47:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-02T02:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/310841\/"},"modified":"2025-08-02T02:47:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-02T02:47:11","slug":"the-holme-lane-pub-in-bradford-in-running-for-ta-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/310841\/","title":{"rendered":"The Holme Lane pub in Bradford in running for T&#038;A award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The T&amp;A recently launched its Best Pub 2025 contest.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Readers were asked to share their favourite drinking establishments, and the nominations poured in.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  These were whittled down to the final 10, and we\u2019ve been profiling each of the finalists who have responded\u00a0to our questions.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Today is the final day of the competition and it is The Holme Lane\u2019s turn in the spotlight.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The pub, which is in Tong Street, is a family-run business and has been since 1998, with Michael Buttrey running it for almost three decades.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Luke Buttrey, Michael\u2019s son, said: \u201cWe are delighted at being put forward by our customers\u201d.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He added: \u201cThe pub is cosy and inviting, like a living room.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe atmosphere is really friendly and welcoming, customers are more like friends.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWe have a great selection of wines, spirits and beers on tap and the prices are reasonable.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cOur staff are warm and attentive, they remember your name and your usual order.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Holme Lane hosts a number of events throughout the week.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It begins with Monday Club where\u00a0a quiz is put on and there is\u00a0free pie and peas, followed by Bingo Night on Wednesdays and a pool tournament on Thursdays.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Heading into the start of the weekend, there\u2019s karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights, and \u201cmore bingo and karaoke fun\u201d on Sunday afternoons.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Luke said: \u201cWe often have special events and themed nights too.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Over the years The Holme Lane has welcomed spiritual mediums to the pub and put on a 60s and 70s disco last July.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Luke said: \u201cIt&#8217;s like a home away from home and we always try to make our customers feel welcome and comfortable.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Holme Lane has a small, raised and covered beer garden to the rear.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) says on its website that the pub was previously a multi-roomed building but is now open plan.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It has retained three distinct areas though, according to CAMRA.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The organisation says on its website: &#8220;As you walk in, the servery is in the centre with a larger seating area to the left and a games room to the right.&#8221;\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Today is the last chance for you to vote for your favourite pub.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  All you need to do is fill out the voting form, which appears for the final time in the T&amp;A newspaper today (August 2).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The T&amp;A recently launched its Best Pub 2025 contest.
