But also, we&#8217;ve got a numbers situation as well, we&#8217;re short in numbers, so there&#8217;s a bit of both. We&#8217;re trying to get the pieces we really want first, and that&#8217;s what we&#8217;ve been fighting to do. So hopefully we can, hopefully things will fall into place.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But we&#8217;re just beginning to think, my goodness, we&#8217;re just not getting enough over the line. Because we are actively working to try [and] it&#8217;s not as if we&#8217;re a club who are saying [that] we&#8217;re waiting to sell a player before we can bring one in. But it&#8217;s not really the situation. We&#8217;ve got money to spend, and we&#8217;ll have to try and spend it wisely.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz has been mentioned as a summer option as Everton look to upgrade in midfield, but it&#8217;s Benfica&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.footballfancast.com\/everton-pushing-in-race-sign-luiz-alternative-florentino-luis-for-moyes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florentino Luis<\/a> who was the subject of a Toffees approach this week, and now a fresh update has dropped regarding the latter.<\/p>\n<p>                        <strong>Everton find out asking price for &#8220;exceptional&#8221; ace<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to Record [via Sport Witness], <a href=\"https:\/\/sportwitness.co.uk\/everton-burnley-and-leeds-told-players-asking-price-nobody-is-paying-it-yet\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Everton will need to pay \u20ac25m (around \u00a321.7m) to have a chance of signing Luis<\/a> this summer, with fellow Premier League clubs Burnley and Leeds United also in the race to bring him in.<\/p>\n<p>No official bid has been tabled yet, with the aforementioned enquiry the most progress made, and it remains to be seen if the Blues will push forward in their efforts.<\/p>\n<p>                    <img width=\"3000\" height=\"1500\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"florentino-luis-benfica\" data-img-url=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/mixcollage-31-jul-2025-10-05-am-5418.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/mixcollage-31-jul-2025-10-05-am-5418.jpg\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;max-width:100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A midfielder is paramount for Everton in the coming weeks, in terms of quality and depth in the middle of the park, especially after the exit of Abdoulaye Doucoure.<\/p>\n<p>Luis looks like an ideal option to bring in, with the 25-year-old racking up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transfermarkt.co.uk\/florentino\/alletore\/spieler\/357162\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">176 appearances for Benfica<\/a> and winning two Primeira Liga titles with Benfica, as well as being lauded by former manager <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/id\/berita\/rising-star-florentino-luis-midfield-maestro-in-making-37866081\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Rui Vitoria<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Florentino Luis is an exceptional talent.
