Leeds United are planning to step up their interest in signing Sheffield United star Gustavo Hamer in the final month of the transfer window.<\/strong><\/p>\n That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider<\/strong> that the 28-year-old could finally move to Elland Road after last year\u2019s failed bid.<\/p>\n Daniel Farke is believed to be a big fan of his and is planning to strengthen his midfield options ahead of their return to Premier League football.<\/p>\n Football Insider<\/strong> revealed in August 2024 that Sheffield United blocked Hamer from joining Leeds<\/a> by pricing him out of a move in the window\u2019s closing stage.<\/p>\n Now, after Leeds earned promotion to the Premier League while the Blades failed to match their achievement, there is a belief that the Whites could return with a fresh bid.<\/p>\n However, they are not expected to be alone in their pursuit, as Football Insider<\/strong> revealed in May that Everton are exploring the possibility of signing Hamer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n Leeds rival Everton and PSV in race to sign Gustavo Hamer<\/strong><\/p>\n Football Insider<\/strong> exclusively revealed on 11 July that PSV are plotting a move to sign Hamer<\/a> and are leading Leeds in the race for his signature.<\/p>\n Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted Leeds could now step up their efforts after completing the bulk of their business already.<\/p>\n \u201cLeeds are still interested in signing Hamer,\u201d he told Football Insider.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThey made a move for him last year but couldn\u2019t get it done, but they\u2019ve been keeping an eye on him since then on their doorstep at Sheffield United.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s very highly regarded, they see him as the best creative midfield player in the Championship.<\/p>\n \u201cHe plays with a lot of confidence and a swagger, and that\u2019s something that the fans at Leeds love.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it could be a good move for him, and I expect they\u2019ll want to get it done.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of their business so far has been about strengthening the squad and they\u2019ve got a lot of players in, so now they can look elsewhere.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think he was necessarily at the top of their list, but now they can switch the focus.<\/p>\n \u201cIt will be more about fluffing out the squad rather than making deals they have to make.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it will be one they look to do near the end of the window, although it could be done soon, because the manager likes him and he\u2019ll want to test himself in the Premier League.\u201d<\/p>\n Alongside Hamer, Leeds are also considering a late move to re-sign Kavlin Phillips from Man City as they enter the final month of the transfer window.<\/p>\n Brown told Football Insider<\/strong> on 29 July that Leeds remain interested in bringing Phillips back<\/a>, with his future set to be resolved before the window closes.<\/p>\n While there has been a lack of interest in his signature so far this summer, he has no place in Pep Guardiola\u2019s squad and they remain keen to sell him.<\/p>\n This comes after Football Insider<\/strong> exclusively revealed that Phillips will not leave Man City<\/a> until he has recovered from an achilles injury, with an August comeback likely.<\/p>\n For more Leeds United
