Police are appealing for witnesses<\/p>\n

A man aged in his 50s has died following a motorbike crash on the M60<\/a>, police have confirmed.<\/p>\n

The man, who was riding the bike, died at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics and emergency services workers, Greater Manchester Police<\/a> said.<\/p>\n

A section of the M60 was closed on Friday night (August 1) between junction 18 for Simister Island<\/a> and junction 19, near Middleton<\/a>. The closure was first reported just after 8pm and diversions were put in place.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Saturday, GMP said: “Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses following a collision on the M60 in which a motorcyclist died.<\/p>\n

“At around 8.15pm yesterday, Friday, we were called to reports of a single-vehicle RTC involving a motorcycle travelling clockwise on the M60 between junctions 18 and 19.<\/p>\n

“Despite best efforts of the emergency services, a male in his 50s sadly died at the scene of the collision.<\/p>\n

No other vehicles were involved and we are now appealing for more information to understand the circumstances that led up to the collision.<\/p>\n

“We are particularly interested in anybody who may have dash-cam footage of the incident.<\/p>\n

“Anyone with information or footage should contact us on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident 3180-010825.
