With Sheffield\u2019s storied Leadmill venue having closed its doors for the final time in June, plans are now lodged for the replacement venue\u2019s signage.<\/p>\n
Owner Electric Group, the experienced operator of venues in Brixton, Bristol and Newcastle, has pushed on with its plans to revitalise a venue that even its many fans would admit was showing signs of ageing.<\/p>\n
Plans now filed with Sheffield City Council for the Electric Sheffield venue spell out intentions for an internally illuminated projecting sign, painted signage to gable end brickwork and printed signage to two canopies. The firm is working with Design at Source.<\/p>\n
The Electric Group \u2013 which has also now rebranded its Bristol venue, formerly billed as SWX, into line with the Electric brand \u2013 intends to reopen the venue in February 2026, following refurbishment.<\/p>\n
Judging by an admittedly unscientific read-through of recent news story comments, an increasing number of punters seem to be coming round to the idea. Whether Electric can win over the remaining diehards may only be answered once it\u2019s open.<\/p>\n
